xbox live no longer accepts discover card

Microsoft says discover won't let them bill anymore on xbl, but you can cheat and link discover to paypal though I believe. I like discover because every other bank sucks in comparison.. calling discover to complain and see if they can get back in, maybe others can too

Never close the accounts on your own free will...  It will go against your debt to income ratio..  Just chop them up.... out of site, out of mind...

Never ever close them, if it's up to you.

Amex isn't horrible.... They are just too strict or over secure... Which is why I use them for some of my big purchases...

If you have a VISA card, please checkwith your bank. our bank called and told us VISA told them there was a data breach on several million of their cards. So we ended up getting new cards.

Just a heads up. VISA won't tell us what merchant was breached. getting kinda crazy you know, VISA tells you of a breach then won't tell youwho was breached to protect the merchant from bad PR.

why protect the merchant who doesn't properly protect card data of its customers. :s

It wasn't my own choosing.  I ended up going to court with Amex and well, i'm banned for life from them.  After working at bank of america, i refused to ever voluntarily do business with them. And chase.. arg.. won't even go there.

I don't really care about the concept of having credit cards to build history..  I pay cash for everything and just use the discover to shield my checking/savings from fraud risk

What? No no no. If you don't want dings against your credit rating you need to close them properly, and make sure the ratings agencies know they're closed.  If you just chop them up and don't tell anyone, the ratings agencies assume they're active but not being utilized which will hurt your credit score continually.

I've done well with chopping them up...

Who uses Discover? :p

I was getting  5-10% cash back on most stuff since Microsoft was listed as a bonus partner. Nice little savings and like i said, i don't use the card for anything but online purchases.

Discover as a bank is awesome though compared to everyone else i've had the luxury of dealing with (or working for).

I did write and call in, i hope the discover issue is short term.. (to stay on topic heh)
