am I the only one that fine tattoos stupid?

I Dont see the appeal of having a tattoo that can't be remove with spending a lot of money and pain. They are really experience and make you look out of place. I'm like the only few people at 31 that has never gotten one. Does anyone have this feeling too? Girls are surprise that I Dont have one.

probably not, but you already knew that answer, so why ask the question? You can ask the same question about anything people like, do or want.

It depends. I don't like huge tattoos but small ones are fine, especially if they hold meaning to the person. My sister has a tattoo to remember our dad by, and that's fine.

I'm going to get a tattoo at some point, but it's going to be small, placed somewhere that it can be hidden if necessary, and it has to hold a meaning for me.

I made mine (which actually hold some meaning to me) when it wasn't "hip" to do them but now seems everybody "must" have some which I frankly find weird.

I'm 32 and don't have any tattoos. They are silly and kiddy-like (in the meaning that kids would write on walls or their body).

Besides, I'm fair-skinned even at 32 and would look very funny.

agreed. megan fox has too much bad hanwriting on her body. period.

and i tell you one thing about americans or europeans who like having chinese character tattooed on their bodies -

- almost all the handwriting are very bad. so very bad. it's laughable.

- some are so literally translated from english or other languages, "lost in translation" has nothing on them. reminds me of an ads i saw in taiwan sometime back where a causasian was so happy to show off his new chinese tattoos, not realising it was in fact the name of a <edit: not a cold oilment. but something worse ...>

I dont have any tattoos, but at some point I would like to get one. But they're expensive and I need to decide on a motive I really want, and if I'm going to get a tattoo it's going to be fairly big, like should/upper arm, patchwork tattoos that don't match and fit together don't make any sense, if you're going to out art on your body, make it worth it.

Face, hand and neck tattoos that can't bee a silky covered with a shirt or something don't make any sense though. Or people who are covered in them.

The tattoo only needs to mean something and look good to the person that has it though...

The sleeve trend thats going about at the minute is going to be hilarious when it goes out of fashion... pretty much everyone i know is getting them. There is no real identity, no real reason.. just loads of randomness smushed together to cover the arms.

Does look hot on woman though

I've got a couple that mean something to me.  Nothing big, easily hidden under a t-shirt.  Plenty of people find them odd, but I don't care, I'm not them.

Personally, I have no desire for them, but whatever floats anyone's boat.

I do have to say one thing, I don't like people treating their tattoos as art, I mean what does that make you, just a canvas pretty much. Kudos to tattoo artists and people who come up with their own designs (a friend of mine is a great one), but taking pride in lettings someone else do their work on your body is something I never quite understood.

Other than that, face tattoos give me cringebumps, as well as band tattoos. I mean, I understand tattoos themselves represent your state of mind at the particular moment you got them, but imagine all the kids walking around with Lostprophet tattoos or Ian Watkins' face right now, ewwww.

I personally have no desire to get any tattoos, however some I have seen do look good in the right place.

I know someone who has a skull with flames coming out of it just above his wrist, he got it when he was 18 and it really does look bad... then he has bugs bunny on the other arm? He just got them because they "looked good" at the time and he wanted one. With no meaning at all to him i dont see the point.

My ex has a butterfly / flower on her back with some words on it, that did mean something to her and didn't look bad in all honesty. In general most tattoo's just look messy to me, however each to their own.

Eh it's their body and all that.  Personally it doesn't bother me... within reason.  The "human canvas" thing is a bit much for my tastes.  I do have a couple myself though.

Now ear gauging on the other hand... *shudder*  I get a little creeped out every time I run across somebody who has that.

i strongly disagree here. tattoos are more so than anything else an expression of individualism. the fact that you can't remove it easily - if its a permanent tattoo - only means that you have to think about it first, what motive you want and where and should it be only black or colored. size matters if you spend a "lot" of money or not. i aint a rich guy, i have 3 tattoos, 2 in black only and 1 bigger one with small ammounts of colors. the first one cost me only 150 euros which would be probably a new internal HDD or the ticket for a soccer game.

the 2nd one i paid 300 euros for and the 3rd and last one i wanted a very big one (explain later) and was ready to pay a bit more of money because i saved it over the years. i paid 750 euros for it, it took about 8,5 hours and 2 sessions to get it completely done but i am very proud of it. last august i counted 4 years of gym and because of the hard workout, incredibly discipline and aim for perfect nutrition my body looks quite good now, especially my upper arms are a strong point of me so i got the tattoo there. its covering all my left upper-arm goes up to the sholders and i maybe extend that tattoo later on.

over the years i saw others living off their parents till 30. ofc. they could get their motobike, their car, etc. i never had that chance for several reasons i dont wanna talk about. i always had to look for cheaper things to express my individualism. thats also why i got into computer/pc because it is still relatively cheap hobby compared to others. (esp. if you get a low end pc and go for linux which i am doing).

so is the tattoo. if you see what you get the money you spend is not that much. especially not if you are proud of your body. if i wasnt in shape i probably would not have gotten a tattoo.

my parents for example are still very much against it but i don't care. if you watch gym members more and more starting getting tattoos done. some i find interesting, some boring and some but-ugly :P

with my 3 tattoos i always made sure i have a story to tell. why i have got them and what they mean to me. sadly most people don't seem interested and don't ask. but if they do i can tell them when, where and why i got each tattoo made. just getting a tattoo for having one was never an option for me. i am not the guy who gets bored and goes with his friend and both getting the same tattoo and then regretting it after 2 months.

its an individual choice but i always advocate individual choices instead of collectivism. thats also why i love wearing trackies for example but thats another topic.

Yes I find them silly...huge turn off on an otherwise attractive woman.  We should be investing in laser tattoo removal....that's gonna be a booming business when all that skin starts wrinkling and the ink starts fading and bleeding out into blurriness.

I agree, tattoos are stupid. If you want to express yourself, just make a custom T Shirt with what you want to express.

When I was 14 I knew a 12 year old that had done horrible prison-like tattoos up his right arm himself with India ink (he was a left handed guitar player, and actually really good). Over that summer he gave almost everyone but me a tattoo. A good friend to this day still regrets the "Metallica" he got printed across his right shoulder :)

I know a lot of people like you, and I totally get it. The problem that's become of tattoos is that there are too many other people who are doing exactly what you say though.

It's become a fashion, and like all fashions it's a fad (except it's permanent :) ). Eventually they will regret it, but not while it's "cool".

I really don't get the appeal myself. I had a lot of T-shirts that I thought were really cool in high school but I wouldn't be caught dead wearing them today. I can't imagine having to wear one of them for the rest of my life but that's basically what tattoos are. When the day comes that it's no longer in style or you get tired of it you're screwed. They don't make you unique, everyone and their grandma has them. There are far better ways to express yourself. Also I hate tattoos on women, they really make you look low class and trashy. Sorry but they do. Taking a beautiful body and permanently smearing ugly ink all over it, why would you do that?

Mostly I'm talking about these huge tattoos covering entire arms, chest, etc. A small tattoo that can be hidden easily isn't so bad. I still wouldn't want one.

Most of the time, I find them absolutely useless or worse. People where I came from did not understand that you get what you pay for. Oh, you see your favorite actor/actress got a tattoo and you want one in the same place? Great! However, if you pay $150 for a little stupid butterfly, it might turn out looking like disfigured face instead. Why? Because the rich celebrities probably paid $2,000+ to get it professionally done. I am so glad that I never ended up getting a girlfriend's name or something on me. Bloody hell, can you imagine walking past the mirror and seeing your ex-girlfriend's name on you somewhere?

Anyways, the only tattoo I really want to get is this. It is the word Bushido in Kanji. Black ink and outlined in pink or cyan. Down my forearm, perhaps? It would be a bit too hard to conceal there for job purposes. I probably will not ever get it, to be honest. I think it might look cute though.
