Need for Speed: BUGGY Rivals

Recommended Posts

I've played Need for Speed Rivals for about a solid 10 hours now.. AT LEAST... However, it is one of the most buggiest games I've ever played.. It is almost as bad as the PREVIEW build of Need for Speed Undercover that leaked for Xbox 360 Dev Kits.. If not worse.. to be honest..

The bugs I've encountered so far,

1. Car Crash.. Sometimes when I crash my car.. it will loop the crash three or four times and going against my damage meter

-Also, I have crashed into parts of the map that gets my car stuck

2. Map Going Crazy..  A few times now, the map will just randomly pick a new destination DURING an event. Usually a far off destination too, like 13 miles..

3. I discovered this one on accident.. This can serve as a tip too :P.. When you hit L1 to start an event, you can hit the Turbo button just right, and it will boots your car before the event actually starts.. CAUTION! This works, but can trigger the map bug.. One time when I did this, the map when back to the starting point during half way through the race..

4. Frame Drop or "slow down".. Sometimes, when there is a lot going on, it is like the game is struggling..

With that said.. the COP AI is hilarious.. You can easily trick them to jump off bridges. Also, you can easily hide in some maps if you are in a map with a jump shortcut, because most of the time the cop will either "stand still" or try to jump the ramp fail over and over..

Anyone else notice the bugs? This is from the PS4 version..

what did you expect? This game is such a POS

It's just sad.. The Need for Speed is such a great Franchise..  But.. EA has done a horrible job with a lot of their games lately.

EA is a cancer to the video game world. NFS, and now Battlefield 4, its turning into a different COD clone. Pump out DLC, overprice, rinse and repeat. I can't stand EA

Okay - cops going airborne IS a part of the game.  Also, I have news for you - the police cars in the game CAN handle flight at least as well as the racers.  (Have you played AS a cop yet?)

Didn't have the map bug (PC version).

I have a low-spec PC, and do have an issue with I/O-based lag - but that is likely BECAUSE I have a lower-spec PC (Q6600 stock, GTX550Ti, Windows 8.1 Pro x64 with Media Center, x64 executable, 4 GB DDR2).  It could easily be worse, and likely would be with a dual-core (E6600).

just...no. its an awesome game. the only thing that would make this game a 10/10 for me is if there was local split screen, like the old days.

i know they can make the jumps.. But, most of the time, they fail.. from what I seen.. and when they can't make it, the cop car just sits still and doesn't move.. This is the PS4 version..

What I also saying, you can trick them, by just driving up a ramp slowly, and stopping about halfway, they go over 100% of the time.. That isn't really bug, but just dumb AI.. i mean you can be going 5mph and they still jump it.. lol

Works great, looks beautiful.  Story is kinda wack but wouldn't expect much else for a racing game.  Never had to rewatch any videos, unlike TB, so wondered if he even got past the tutorials before quitting the game.

It obviously has issues, but within about 4 minutes of that video I felt like yelling at him

Hmmm. NFS: Rivals on the PC is great, not a hitch here. And you can unlock the framerate if it's that important to you. Online results may vary. EA is listening though and probably won't lock future PC titles, but only time will tell.

BF4 is not my time of game but for the first time I tried it, the campaign, and it does look and perform awesome. I tried it as it supports x64 and all CPU cores. It did push my CPU to over 74 but it was all good. It is buggy and I'm not all that happy with the gamepad controls but having never played it, I can see, without the bugs, how many can become fanatical. Just not my fav theme and FPS aren't really for me either. After a while they're all the same.

But Frostbite 3 definitely bodes well for PC gaming. Can't wait for the Frostbite based Star Wars Battlefront next year.

Probably rushed just so it could a be a launch release.  Been seeing far too much of that this generation.

btw.. I lol'd at the "Wu tang" tag.

Listening to whom?

Hope you remember Need For Speed: Run was similarly capped at 30 FPS on PC. When the PC gaming community created a big issue, they quietly patched it to unlock the FPS.

The current solution for Rivals is still a hack job. If your PC is not capable and FPS drops below your specified limit, the gameplay becomes slow.

You better give up hope on the wretched company like EA. The way things are going, I won't be surprised if next NFS has micro-transactions littered throughout.

I share your feelings on Microtransactions.

But I don't have a problem with moving forward and finally taking advantage of high end hardware . Yes, it should scale down, but in 2013 devs should build ultra settings to a GTX 660 or < and an i7 3770 or <.

I've listened to "gamers" tell people an i5 is more than enough for gaming. An i5 isn't enough for me for general desktop computing and even an entry level system should have 4-8GB of RAM by now. Additionally, MS should stop with the 32-bit Windows client with their next release. Even phones are ditching 32 bit.

As for EA listening:

In response to twitter complaints about 30fps EA responded: "Noted, we are listening and targeting 60fps in the future." That's better than saying nothing. I don't like Origin but blame Microsoft for letting GfWL and now XfW fail miserably on the PC.

I guess we have wildly different definitions of what makes a good game. Framerate, original story and a publishing/company track record obviously matters to me. NFS has been rehashed to death, wish they could give it a rest already. NFS is what COD is to generic FPS's that got ruined by EA. Really sad.

sure the framerate isn't perfect,or the story isn't the greatest, but I like the environments, the highways, the chases, the SPs and upgrades. its just a really good game in my opinion. maybe guys like totalbiscuit get off on framerates, and resolution instead of enjoying the game, but I know that I am having a real good time with it.

Yeah, on consoles, I could care less about Frame Rates.. as long as it stable.. I love the game.. I just wish it was more polished.

Not sure what a publisher/company's track record has to do with whether or not a game is good. They could have made 9 games that totally suck, if #10 is good, it's good regardless of the previous 9.
