Only reading what was written here on Neowin, it looks like they went the Dice (BF3/4) route of including the expansion content in the patch instead of it being a separate download.

^ This, it says they've added locked content for the 3rd and 4th DLC that's coming later, so that's the bulk of the update itself. I bet if it was just the fixes it'd probably have been 2GB or so.

The DLC takes seconds to "install," as expected, since most of the data was in the patch. Sadly I won't get to play it until the weekend :(

Notably, there's only about 360 gamerscore from all four DLC episodes. Does this mean they're looking into making roughly eight more episodes to hit the gamerscore cap?  :o

Wow I was just looking at the Achievement Lists on X360A and I didn't even notice this, Why couldn't they just make it 100 points per DLC, make it nice and even? :(

Patches are patches. DLC is DLC. Don't combine them.

It's not an ideal solution but at least they are making sure that DLC owners can still be compatible with Vanilla DR3 owners in co-op.

Well, I saw a tweet saying that this game has shipped 1million copies which would make it a success overall. Pretty sure we can expect a DR4 now.

^ Yep 1 Million copies so far, hopefully this is a sign to Capcom to make sure they take care of their Vancouver buddies.

As a side note the first DLC pack is ridiculously overpriced, so unless you are really, really dying for more variety in the game this DLC isn't worth it.

Just started playing the first DLC episode yesterday. It's pretty fun, but extremely basic in terms of missions and all that -- definitely not up to the standards of the regular campaign.

It also seems there's no time limit, which is awesome if you want to go around the open world just for fun. It's less beneficial than it would be in the regular campaign, however, since there's not as much to do.

Yeah no time limit, but if you are one for collectibles or achievements, make sure you hack the Cameras, collect Dog Tags and find your team before moving onto the next area.

My major problem was that it is way too short, like $13.95 Australian for a maximum of 2 hours gameplay? Ridiculous!

Yup, I am -- I like trying to get all the achievements in games, mainly because it stops me from buying too many  I think I'm just going to find all the dog tacks and hack the cameras before proceeding to the next mission.

But, yes, this is way, way, way too expensive if you're buying the DLC a la carte. It's not too bad in the season pass, but it sounds extremely short from what I'm hearing.

I started it last night and it's awesome. I'm dying early on mainly panicking trying to switch from flashlight to a weapon.

I bought the digital download of this game and it's really fun. I finally made it out of the tunnel to the area with the plane crash and the credits. I now have to get to the diner. There are tons of dead in the way and I found myself spending time killing them and they were coming non stop. Am I meant to run through this hoards and only fight when I have to? I made it to the part where I saw the hoards and I had to hop from car to car. I ran into the building and made it to the part where there's a platform with a gap and all but 1 of the dead walked off. I made the jump but fell and couldn't get back out and got killed. I reloaded only to find myself back at the part with the plane crash? Should I manually be saving my progress when I make key progress? Also, am I right in my thinking that I should run through and not fight every dead? I'm already starting that section with low health so I have to go find a couple beers and some soda along the way and drink it before I get attacked.

Just jump car to car, pick up a weapon to defend if you need to. Only kill them if you have to.

Thanks, I'll try that. And I see I mis typed the title. It's should be Dead Rising 3. ;)

If you're playing on normal mode and not nightmare, then you should be fine. Nick is basically invincible unless you allow them to totally gang up on you. In the first two games if they grabbed you a couple of times it was game over. In this one it's nothing like that, you can take on dozens if not hundreds at a time if you choose. Fight them or not is up to you, that's the fun of this game. It's finally a Dead Rising 3 product for gamers that just want to enjoy themselves at a leisurely pace with a moderate challenge. If you want the previous Dead Rising style, go for nightmare mode but prepare for a challenge - timed missions, much more dangerous zombies, no auto saving, can only save in toilets.

For the saves: if Nick dies then you go back to the last save point, and those are not too far apart. In most cases you will also appear right at the save point location, not the nearest safe house or toilet like in the first two games.

CAUTION: i would advise against manual saves. You can save anywhere except during boss fights, but i think this causes your campaign file to corrupt. For me, after i began manual saving the dreaded world loading glitch appeared, with the environment gradually disappearing and Nick eventually falling through the floor to his doom. I then started playing each chapter start to finish with no manual saving, and the issue did not happen again. I think the manual saves may cause a conflict with the auto saves or something - probably related to cloud vs. local saves. Just a guess, and this doesn't happend to everyone.

I made it to the damn diner and did a save. I fell off the platform and got killed and it put me back at the beginning of the zone, and with all the supplies I found along the way gone. Is this a glitch?

When you say fell from the plaform - what do you mean? Did it look like you were falling into the ground? Were the graphics weird? Also, if you save manually and then Nick "dies" you will not always re-appear exactly where you saved. Sometimes you will show up at the entrance to what the game considers the general area within which you saved. Yes, it's a little complex, and don't forget DR3 is one of the most glitched games i've ever seen, and i've been gaming for longer than i care to admit.

And i just told you to avoid manual saving, i'm pretty sure that throws off everything! Just stick with the auto saves, which are plentiful. And falling deaths are very rare in DR3, that's why i asked you about the graphical glitching.

No, the faling thing was when I got into the building for the diner and there was a platform I had to jump to and a bunch of dead in the pit. I saved the game right before that jump and when I missed it and died, it brought me back to the beginning of the zone where the plane crashed. I made it way past that now though and I'll take your advice and avoid manual saves.

Oh for that sequence it's supposed to happen this way. It's the very first checkpoint i think hahaha, you're supposed to let the zombies come to you so they fall in the gap, it's to demonstrate some of the game mechanics. Unless i'm thinking of the wrong location. Either way, i do think it's best to avoid manual saves.

Anyone else get the new downloadable content and want to hop in a game this weekend?

Am really tempted by the special on the DLC...$20 is still a little steep for such a glitchy game (at least on my X1 it was very glitchy), but i am tempted as it's a lot of content and the game overall was fun. But thanks for putting it out there and encouraging co-op among the community
