looking to replace my phone camera to real one

Recommended Posts

I have always used my camera's phone for almost everything, but now i'm looking for something dedicated. I'm not a pro but what like something decent for crisp and quick snap shot of my kids and family.

I'm looking for something on the slim side, not bulky like the Nikon DSLRs.

Budget CAD 300-400.

Have a look at some suggestions here. Don't know if they'll fit your budget because of the exchange rate.

Forgot about this post. I'm still looking.

Should I get a camera with 30-50x zoom or one that can change lens?

You can get a cheaper DSLR for the long run but if you prefer something smaller then something like a Mirrorless camera might be a good side alternative.

That one is supposedly good so maybe an option. You still have some of the DSLR features and you can swap lenses too.

Probably off budget but I'm currently in love with the SONY DSC-RX100. Amazing compact camera.

Something something Micro 4/3s

The RX100 is something special though.

Isn't that the same as the "bulky" Nikon D3200? :p

Good camera however if it falls into your pricing range.

This seems to be a reasonable solution.

I think your better off buying this:

http://www.amazon.ca/Canon-12-2MP-Digital-18-55mm-3-5-5-6/dp/B005JSUNW8/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1395235963&sr=1-1&keywords=Canon+EOS+Rebel+T3

As usually all the accessories included are the lowest spectrum in terms of brand and quality.

Have you looked at other brands? on that budget? Mirrorless perhaps? There's sony, panasonic, olypus, nikon, etc.

Get a cheap body DSLR, rebel will suffice, but why you prefer that over a Nikon DSLR labeling it as bulky is beyond me.  Don't buy it with all that crap, it's exactly that - crap.

It will come with a kit lens, which immediately will make your photos pop out much more than any little dinky toy.  Get yourself a filter for the end, mostly just to protect the lens.

Your next few purchases will be a prime lens and maybe something a bit beefier than the kit lens, but by no means necessary.

Ah, I see. So a Canon or Nikon DSLR would be my choice.

UPDATE: I'm set on the Canon T3, cheapest DSLR out there and good reviews.
