Games do not show on taskbar in Windows 8.1

7 posts in this topic

Why does my Left 4 Dead 2 not show up in the taskbar like in Windows 7 ? I don't get it. When I am playing a game it disappears. This happens in other games too. Not sure if it just steam game but I never had it happen in Windows 7.

How do I get them to show back up in the taskbar?

Here another person with the same issue but with TF2.

They do, but they arbitrarily disappear.

I don't know what causes it, and only know to fix it by restarting the game..

But yeah >.>

have you pinned it to the taskbar. if you pin it it will be there til you unpin it. if you have no direct acces to the games launcher. go to you program files (x86)/steam/steamapps/common folder and select specific game folder for the game you want to pin and right click games .exe file and pin it to task bar

Surprisingly not. It goes back to being an icon like when its closed.

All kinds of annoying. I've seen it in DotA2 and TF2.

Thanks everyone. I wish there was a way to fix it. Never had a problem in Windows 7.

You don't have a 3rd party dock program installed or anything that does special things to the taskbar?
