Xbox One Digital Game Prices Raised

Microsoft raises prices for Xbox One exclusives, Forza 5, Dead Rising 3 and Ryse: Son of Rome.

There's been a lot of talk regarding high digital prices of games on the PS4 and the Xbox One, with Sony in particular coming in for criticism for high prices that have since been adjusted.

However, rather than lower their prices, Microsoft has now gone in the opposite direction, with the price of Xbox One exclusives Forza 5, Ryse: Son of Rome and Dead Rising 3 all being raised on the Xbox store.

Forza 5, Ryse and Dead Rising 3 were all previously priced at ?44.99, but are now on sale for ?49.99.

Digital pricing on console platforms has understandably been criticised by those who question why digital prices should be equal to, or even higher than, retail copies of the same games.

The logic behind Microsoft' ?5 price hike for Xbox One exclusives is likely to be lost on those already unhappy with the price of digital game downloads.

Not sure what has possessed them to do this :/ US prices haven't changed. If its because of exchange rates, surely they'd be better eating the costs rather than the negative backlash this will cause. Retailer pressure maybe?

So now both xbl and psn seem to be getting pricing in line with each other. XBL was a little low and PSN was a little high, but now they have met in the middle

I don't know what the reason is, but I'm sure that raising prices will not go over well with anyone.

We all know the arguments over digital retail game sales, there really isn't much reason to bring it all up again.

It's all about retail I bet, they don't want to undercut their retail partners. Probably the only way they could get day and date release for all games compared to how long it would take for 360 games to show up on GoD. I'm fine with the prices being the same to start just as long as the digital version drop in prices as quick as retail tends to, or if they give gold members a nice discount.

So wait, in the UK, these adjusted prices are still 5 cheaper than the retail prices?

Plus the prices are still cheaper on average compared to the psn UK prices?

Weird things going on with the prices over there for sure.

No? Retail prices are cheaper for both consoles.

PSN prices are still a mess though. KZSF is ?52.99

Yeah I see that after checking the amazon uk pricing. I was confused because that was mentioned on the front page story.

It still doesn't explain why these pricing problems are only occurring in the EU.
