Youtube Copyright Disaster! Angry Rant

Recommended Posts

The guys is all over the place and jumping around.  One point, he blames Google for everything, then he blames the people sending Google requests, then blames Google again.  Sounds like he wants to rant than do what Google and the game companies said to do...contest the video take down requests as the gaming companies do not care.

It is also hard to take anyone seriously when they are flailing around and swearing the majority of the time.

I'll tell you what I don't like. I don't like that they did away with video responses. They claim people didn't get many views from them but I did get some, without them I haven't seen many views to my videos.

I had to stop watching after a minute or so because I realised that I have no idea what he is ranting about. Someone needs to let him know that some context could be helpful before going off on one.

I blame the youtube automatic system for claiming copyright infringement,

its very easy to use to the point you can abuse it by sending bulk claims and you can even get away easily if all your claim are false.

I couldn't even finish the video because the yelling and screaming just got annoying after a while.  I get it, you're angry...

Same. Stopped after a minute. He wasn't going anywhere and it was just too annoying to listen to him.

If you've been paying attention to many youtubers in the last 3 days they changed their content ID system. It basically made it so people are getting their videos flagged for no real reason by people who have right to make claims against them. Essential making it impossible for them to make money.

Angry Joe does video reviews and that's perfectly legal and covered under fair use. But somehow his videos are getting flagged. What's worse is that INTERVIEWS that he had with developers at conventions like E3 were getting flagged..by the very developers he interviewed.

And it turns out that some of the companies like Capcom and Blizzard have said they are not doing this, and had no intentions of ever doing anything like this. Google has let their systems run wild.

I've just finished watching that one, it was long  :D

Same here but I think it was worth the watch.

Nope, and if that's his presentation style then I have no intention of doing so.

If you've been paying attention...

I don't upload videos to youtube, and I only really go there for specific things, so I guess that explains why I've been unaware. Thanks for the information. (Y)

Also, I know Blizzard has specifically said that it's perfectly okay to monetize (put ads on the videos) videos containing footage of their games as long as people do not have to pay to actually see the video. And yet people are getting content id warnings for videos containing footage of Hearthstone.

Whatever has changed within youtube in the last 3 days is severely broken.

Bend over and take in the full extent of DMCA

It has nothing to do with that. It's google trying to take an easy way out and that's all it is. They also don't care about the claims because they make money on the video ads regardless of who owns them. Or rather, who claims they own them. And if the claims are legit or not and most claims are not legit. In fact some claims made are illegal to begin with.

From the sound of things the taketown requests are coming from people with no affiliation to the actual IP owners whatsoever.

Just saw this on reddit:

Much better and informed watch than the garbage that the OP posted.

Seriously go screw off. I posted a video of someone who got affected by this new system! He makes a living off of this. He's not a tool like some people and say oh well. there goes that.

Your opinion. I quite like him. I've watched his videos for several years. If you'd actually watch his review videos he puts a lot more effort into them than pretty much any other game reviewer on the internet.

The video the OP was just a rant. It wasn't meant to be informative, it was him just releasing some stress because youtubes ###### system is screwing him over for no legit reason.

I'm sure if your lively hood was at risk because of some arbitrary system that has no real human interaction you'd not be very happy about it either.

Heh, if you think copyright is an issue with youtube, they took over a year to deal with a trademark issue I put to them, Imho, they dont give 2 monkeys about individual users liveihoods, and our data is mere corp fodder.

Unless the individual has a channel with 1+ million subscribers. Like I said earlier, youtube couldn't care less about these claims. They make money regardless of who claims the video, they still own the ads that are being played.

nobody is going to take you seriously if all you're doing is screaming and swearing.

It's like watching a teenager throwing a hissy fit?.

Clearly u dont follow him on twitter or facebook. sigh

who would follow someone who's yelling and swearing all the time.

these people "making a living off youtube" need to join the real world, you know the one where people actually do something constructive.
