As you might be knowing, the Windows Experience Index (WEI) was removed from Windows 8.1. Microsoft left the WEI engine in the OS, but the UI was deleted from This PC/Computer properties. Because it really doesn't matter at this point. Hardware has caught up to the software, and since Windows' requirements haven't changed much since Vista, the score is rather meaningless. I wouldn't have thought that was the point in it because if the computer cannot run Vista, then you can't get WEI to rate your system. It's not really though because it gives quick access to your hardware information and lets you know what components need upgraded. If microsoft thought it was THAT important, they wouldn't have scrapped it with the kernel that they implemented in windows 8. Why do I need to trust software to tell me that my pc cannot run *BLAH*, when most times it can run it anyway? I mean, most games I play are WELL above my minimum system requirements...yet my PC runs them anyway. Flawlessly. There was never a consistent score between different versions of Windows so it is impossible to make any comparison with any other system basically. They attempted to quantize aspects of your system performance then borked it up by making it inconsistent between versions of Windows.. probably a great reason to remove it honestly. Continually battling it out with who's got the better computer. Now we've got pretty decent builds with their own special quirks. This is why competition is good. Although I'm now down ~?1800... This is the same result that I get with WEI in Win 7, and if the author hade re-arranged the scale, mine should be bigger fogures. I don't believe that it works. Max scale is 7.9 in Win7 and beyond (so even more useless as time goes on). It was 5.9 in Vista. I recall reading that they changed the mapping of scale between the OS versions though, so your score can be inconsistent between OS versions. I.e. the scores aren't normalized between OS versions. See for max score talk: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/achieving-a-perfect-windows-experience-index-score-in-windows-7 EDIT: Disclaimer: according to Wikipedia the max score should be 9.9 in Windows 8.
