Youtube's copyright content system is apparently out of control

Youtube's copyright content system is apparently out of control and is crippling some well known and lesser known Youtube game review channels.

Many gamers who upload footage of video games to YouTube are still getting troubling "content ID" matches that threaten to upend YouTube's gaming content as we know it. But on day three of this controversy, some game publishers appear to be taking steps to help these gamers out.

This story is unfolding rapidly as so-called Content ID notices continue to fill the inbox of big and small gaming YouTubers. Meanwhile, YouTubers and a bevy of game creators are taking to Twitter to talk about it, posting helpful videos to YouTube explaining the situation and talking directly to reporters like me.

Content claims do keep coming in, as YouTube's copyright-sniffing bots continue to crawl any monetized videos?videos on which the uploader is running ads?in search of matching content that might infringe on someone's rights. Those bots are claiming videos on behalf of game publishers, music rights holders and, in some cases, seemingly random parties. Once the bot sniffs out the content match, the gamer who uploaded it loses the ability to run ads and the supposed rights-holder can begin to collect money by running their own ads unless they release their claim

Yeah, I've been following it on other forums, people are seeing random claims by companies that can't possibly own the content (Like a match for Rooster Teeth on a Dead Rising video), and silly stuff like self made music being matched, or even silence being claimed.

These game reviewers spends hours upon hours of playing games and recording and uploading review footage. They also rely on monetization system to keep reviews going for games. When there is a copyright id match or claim made, all the monetization options are taken away. This isn't only affecting game reviewers but their loyal followers also who watch their videos. :(

That thread isn't the same as this one (although similar) because this one is a news story and I posted it in back page news in hopes of Neowin news staff considering it for the front page.

It is much worse on musical performance videos, e.g. piano students performing classical music, receive a claim by some random named company says they own the right of Chopin/Beethoven/Mozart.

This is disgusting.
