Thought on my first SSD upgrade

You forgot the pro for no moving parts which works great in a Laptop. That's all I use in laptops ... well that and in every computer I own.

Just one on my desktop but love it so much that I want to get one for my old laptop, inject some new life into it. If anyone is on the fence about buying one, go for it! They're simply amazing. Going back to a platter disk even on a fast-ish computer hurts now :D

I happily own 2 SSD's in my Desktop, both rMBP's are SSD's and my new HTPC / SteamBox will be SSD. I also have 2 SSD's that were retired into external drives.

SSD is the only way going forward, ill have spinning rust for data I don't give a ###### about

That's why every machine that comes into my office feels slow.

I have two at home.

One in the desktop OCZ Vertex 2e as a 120GB OS drive.

One in my laptop (Dell XPS 15) that is a 512GB.

I use a regular hard drive at work and as i've been with an SSD for over 4 years now.

Doing stuff on a regular drive is so slow. I moan about it all the time.

Takes about 30 seconds to load Photoshop CC.

On the laptop it took about 3-5 seconds.

Refuse to use a PC without an SSD as the system drive.

About!!

Sorry, but there is no "about".  You either own them or not.  If I have 5 SSD's I don't own about 6 SSD's.

Going by your list (figuring 1 in each PC) you have 15.

That isn't "about 11"

Ok, so I did another inventory count. I'm still probably forgetting some in this list. But this is just what I could think of off the top of my head.

Parents laptop in their Kitchen 64GB SSD(my ssd drive)

None yet -- I still don't quite trust an SSD.

You are completely missing out. My first SSD experience was terrible - OCZ Vertex 60 GB purchased in 2009, died in 4 months. Every other SSD I have purchased since has not died yet. There's absolutely nothing to lose. If you are scared, that just means you don't do proper backups in the first place.

I can't imagine booting on a HDD any more. I only have 3 active HDD's in my house (2 in the NAS, 1 in Xbox One). All my systems have had SSD boot drives since 2009, wouldn't have it any other way. Just remember the slowest component in computers is usually the spinning disk drive  :)
