BROOKHAVEN, GA -- Police say an 8-year-old boy helped catch a suspected car burglar in Brookhaven.

According to police, Chris Mattus was looking out of the window of his home on Dresden Drive Sunday night when he saw a man breaking into his parents' vehicle.

"I said, ?There was this guy outside and he was looking in your car and another guy came down and joined him and they were both walking down to the next driveway,'" said Chris Mattus.

He told his mom, who called police. The boy gave officers a detailed description of the suspect. He also told them where he saw the suspect flee.

Police were able to find and arrest the suspect. Authorities believe he could be involved in at least six other car break-ins. The suspect's name has not been released because of the ongoing investigation, police said.

The boy who alerted authorities will be recognized by Brookhaven Police Chief Gary Yandura at an upcoming city council meeting, according to a city press release.

Mattus said he's considering being a police officer when he grows up.

A second man was arrested for loitering and is under investigation, according to police.

I hope he gets better grades in school and can be something more than that.  Like a homicide detective or someone other than the lousy beat cops that got all D's in high school.
