Hello,

Went ahead and made this thread to see how many users have switched from and to another mobile operating system and why this 2013 year.

I covered the big three. This also is only for smartphone users that are already using the big three mobile OSs; Sorry Blackberry, Firefox OS, Sailfish OS, Symbian, Tizen, Ubuntu Touch OS, etc users....

Also, we are talking about the main phone/tablet and the one you use daily and most.

No laptops or devices that fall in that category (for example Surface Pro)

Well, for me it's a sort-of switch. My home phone is still an Android (I really like my HTC One), but my work phone runs Windows Phone, rather happy with that as well. Used to be an Android 2.x phone that never got updated, poor hardware and didn't want to fool around with custom ROMs, always been hit or miss for me. Gave WP a shot and it's really growing on me.

I switched from Android to Windows Phone this year. Going from a Samsung Galaxy S III (Running CyanogenMod) to a Nokia Lumia 928 (Running Windows Phone 8 GDR3 currently)

Hello,

Edited the OP a bit:

- Main tablet/phone that you use daily and the most.

- Devices such as Surface Pro do not count because they use a desktop operating system such as Windows 8; iPads and Surface RT do

Pretty much exact same path for me.

Microsoft dropped the ball with WP 7.5 to 8 so I jumped ship.

Still loyal to WP. Switched two years ago from a Symbian and never looked elsewhere. Currently own two WP8 devices (complimented by three Windows 8.1). Played around with both iOS and Android but I've found out that nothing about those two OSes make me as excited as WP. Plus no other OEM can match what Nokia brings to WP. Now with WP8.1 around the corner, followed by WP-RT merge/Threshold, looks like i'm in for a long ride.

Speaking of switching though, I successfully converted three friends and two family members from Android to WP.

My new Surface RT has superceded my Samsung Galaxy Tab, so I've gone from Android to Win RT.

I still use the Galaxy when I'm out, since I'm paying for a 4G plan for it. But my home is the Surface's domain. :)

Well I haven't "switched". I still have my work phone, a Galaxy Note [1] but added a Lumia 1020 to the mix. Essentially though I've switched at heart. Sure I've been able to do wonders with my Android phones but if you want the latest and greatest, you most likely are going to have to put up with a severely unstable device. Over the past couple of years I've just gotten tired of it. Reboots in the middle of long text or email messages, reboots while just sitting on the desk, terrible battery life, terribly slow at pretty much everything. I was just done. I needed a freakin' phone, not a brick.

So I got a Windows Phone and just love how responsive it is across the board. There have been a few reboots for no apparent reason but it may have happened three times since I got it a few months ago and I do have the GDR3 preview installed. I've also replaced my Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 with the Surface RT when it was on sale for $199.

I haven't switched as of yet, currently on my iPhone 4s which has served me well but I'm really interested in the up coming Lumia 929. I've grown fond of my coworkers 928 and interested to see what the 929 brings. I'm due for an upgrade in January so the timing will be right. I do have the iPhone 5s on my radar as well of course....

On the tablet side I've recently loaded Android 4.22 on my first gen Kindle Fire and love the new life and capability it has. A welcome change from the heavily modded 2.3 Amazon had provided.

Hello,

No option for haven't switched at all?

I haven't! Still Andriod!!

This thread isnt for you then.

Does Android to dumbphone count? That's what I did and it's been great so far and probably will continue to be so.

Nope. I only ment mobile operating systems that run on smartphones :)

Switched from Windows Phone (Lumia 800) to Android (Samsung Galaxy S4) and I have to say I'm absolutely loving it. The screen is phenomenal and has all the apps I'll ever need. I doubt I'll be switching back to Windows Phone until at least Windows Phone 8.5 (mostly because of the 2 year contract :P)

I switched from Android to Windows Phone. I was waiting for Nokia to come up with a big screen display and they did... Enjoying the Nokia Lumia 1520 like not other phone before, love it.
