From what I read online its supposed to help your PCI-E card work better. I have a HD Radeon 7970. I wanted to use the boost as something temporary until I can save for another 7970 to do crossfire. The GPU boost for your motherboard is for integrated GPUs (on the processor die), not for discrete cards.
