Steam Holiday Sale 2013

Recommended Posts

I'm surprised no one here got AoE 2 HD while it was on sale.  It was $5 for AoE 2 HD which comes with Age of Kings and the Conquerors expansion and $5 for the new expansion or $7.50 if you bough the package deal.

I would but I only have $3.79 left in my Steam Wallet (and I don't plan on adding any more to it). Played AoE II when I was young and it was one of the only RTS games that held my interests besides StarCraft.

The 3 games are on sale atm, I'm sure I'll enjoy them but will I play them before the summer sale.. that's what I can't decide on :p

It's always best to sell the new cards within the first few days for max profit, most drop to ~10p-20p after that.

I have tons of cards just waiting for boosters :( If I wasn't into collecting these badges I could fund my sales addiction with them

So far i have managed to craft 19 badges/levels using ?4 + playing the market.

Not sure how "random" the boosters packs are, i crafted beatbuddy badge then literally 5mins later i got a beatbuddy booster pack.

I've spent a good amount of money during this sale. Most recently I bought FTL, Spelunky, Interstaller Marines, and Mark of the Ninja. Now I just need to find time to play them all.

I just crafted my first badge (to get to level 10, every 10 levels gives you a 20% higher chance of getting a booster pack) and I got my 2nd booster pack ever like 5 minutes later (though the booster was not related to the badge I crafted).

I would almost be willing to bet that crafting a badge gives you a temporarily increased chance of getting a booster or something.

EDIT: I have a FTL: Faster Than Light ($9.99 on Steam right now) key from a humble bundle I'll trade someone for the Age of Empires II HD + The Forgotten Expansion bundle ($7.49 right now)....so if anyone is looking to buy FTL off Steam, I'll trade it to you for cheaper than the normal price.

I'm still curious what snow globe card prices will do near the end, they disappear at 2 AM Eastern Time so any that aren't sold are lost. I'm still betting there will be a big fire sale in the last few hours and prices will be rock bottom as everyone tries to unload them in time. I could be wrong of course but if they do go dirt cheap it would be a great time to craft badges.

A booster pack is given out randomly when a badge for that game is crafted, so if those 19 badges/levels were for games then you just gave 19 boosters out :D

Have you not played them before?  The first Bioshock is one of my favourite games!  Not a huge fan of Infinite, I've played it and the DLC through to completion, and whilst it is a nice game, it's basically a corridor shooter.  For me, it's a bit like what Resident Evil 4 was to the Resident Evil series; a good game, but I would have appreciated it more if it was it's own IP.

I've got far too many active boosters on the go, but only ever received two (granted I'm only in the teens for Steam levels).

Yeah, that's the impression I've gotten so far with Steam card prices

What do you think to Castlevania: Lords of Shadow?  I think it's a bit... "Meh" - nowhere near as good as it looked.  It's still enjoyable, and Patrick Stewart / Robert Carlyle are a huge bonus, but what were they thinking with those "platformer" parts?!

I've only passed the 3rd "map" or level or whatever it is and so far I like it more than I thought I would. The platformer stuff doesn't bother so much as the puzzles. My god I hate games that do puzzles like that. Combat is super fun though so far, what little I've done of it.

The puzzles and platforming parts just seem pointless to me. There is no difficulty to them, they're just actions you perform and that's it.

Yeah, the combat is fun; it has a nice variation to it so far and seems pretty satisfying.
