I have test bed's that are mac mini's that I need to be able to remote into from windows desktops (all on an internal 1GB/s network connection). I know Mac OSX has VNC support built in, but are there any other servers out there for it? If I am stuck using VNC, what is the best client to use on windows for this? You can use vnc : / / in the Safari address bar (superfluous spaces added to make the forum software happy). Chicken of the VNC, might give you a better overall experience. I had to find something free so I found logmein free said it's free to use for commericial use. I had to have our lawyer read the terms but both him and my manager said its clear to use in our environment so its on macs and windows. I'm the opposite of you. I work in a full Unix / osx environment and love it. Windows is such a pain in the ass on the client side its not even funny. I would rather have people use os x or a desktop based Linux distro then windows. Management might be great with windows because they have put the time into it but managing other OS'S from windows isn't possible just like managing windows from OS X or Linux isn't possible by apple or the open source community. One thing Microsoft has done is made RDC for mac but even then its limited. Vnc software is horrid on windows. If you have windows 8 download mochaVNC I've seen better vnc apps for iOS android and windows store then I have on actual windows. Makes no sense. Now LMI Free has now been limited to 10 machines per account, so that may be out for you. But teamviewer would work. The free version doesn't even care anymore if you are on a domain...just so long as you don't care that you get a nag screen when you disconnect. Some people say that if you connect between computers on a domain with a free account it disconnects you after 5 minutes, but I have never encountered that and have been using teamviewer for years.
