BoDEAN
Running Google Chrome Version 32.0.1700.55 m Aura on my Windows 8.1 machine. The last few months, gmail.com runs slow (always says loading, still loading, etc), I open google maps up, that is slow. No other sites are slow, just those. I started used Google DNS servers, still slow. Any other browser, I have no issues. Is it time to ditch Chrome? Is this a know issue? Any solutions? I've cleared the cache in the browser. LittleNeutrino Veteran Posted December 23, 2013 Veteran Share Posted December 23, 2013 i have not had an issue with those particular sites however, i have an issue running the latest dev build that youtube will not load, it just spins forever, it loads instantly on other browsers just not in chrome (which i think is funny being both are google products)
BoDEAN
I wonder if Bitdefender Total Security 2014 has something to do with it

Atomic Wanderer Chicken
Ha, googles own products running slow on their browser that they say is optimized for them? That's hilarious I seriously doubt this is widespread issue, you must have some kind of firewall or something that's making things, specifically Google's sites, not run well in the chrome browser. LittleNeutrino Veteran Posted December 23, 2013 Veteran Share Posted December 23, 2013 I can get to youtube, but videos sometimes take a bit of coaxing to get playing. This happens on both 33.0 and 31.0 if i type in youtube or http://www. youtube it wont load, if i click on a link someone has posted it will work without an issue. I have noticed that videos are stuttery and horrible when i try to play them though. Version 33.0.1750.5 dev-m of chrome is what i am running. And sadly my problems only exist in chrome (I understand its a dev build so i have not put too much time into fixing it)
Atomic Wanderer Chicken
If your using a developer version or a build version, then that is why you may be having issues. I doubt a official public release of chrome would be causing Google's own sites issues.
BoDEAN
I think my version is not beta, but latest official, no?
snaphat (Myles Landwehr) Member Posted December 23, 2013 Member Share Posted December 23, 2013 For the video issues, It could be pepperflash performing poorly. Try the following: http://www.enounce.com/chrome-disable-pepperflash. Unfortunately, Google is going to disable the ability to use NPAPI plugins starting next year (so the Adobe distribution of flash won't work anymore). EDIT: This also comes to mind... Verizon throttle Google. Despite, the issues sounding as if it is chrome specific from the reports, I'm going to post the following as a possible work around. You never know if it could be related: http://treworld.com/thoughts/youtube-slow-verizon-fios-may-fix-it/
ashpowell
I'm having problems with Chrome being slow lately too.. it seems to have gone from fastest to slowest. But I have also recently installed Bitdefender
Growled Member Posted December 24, 2013 Member Share Posted December 24, 2013 Try running without any extensions and see what happens. If nothing else, go into safe mode and fire up Chrome from there and see what happens.
