McDonald's Advises Employees to Stay Away from Fast Food

Recommended Posts

A McDonalds website providing resources to its employees advises against eating hamburgers, fries and sodas. CNBC first noticed the latest in a series of strange pieces of advice provided by the fast food company to its employees. "While convenient and economical for a busy lifestyle," McDonalds says of its primary product, "fast foods are typically high in calories, fat, saturated fat, sugar, and salt and may put people at risk for becoming overweight." :o

It goes on: "In general, people with high blood pressure, diabetes, and heart disease must be very careful about choosing fast food because of its high fat, salt, and sugar levels." CNBC notes that the content here comes from a third party, A.D.A.M., Inc., credited at the bottom of the page. You can browse similar advice from the company on eating healthy here. A spokesperson for McDonalds told CNBC that the company would examine the content in question.

You'll notice that the advice above isn't a total condemnation of fast food offerings as a whole: it is "not impossible" to eat healthy foods at a fast food restaurant. But it is "more of a challenge."

it is good that this is on, even if your thin like me and have to work to put on weight and don't do much exercise and stuff all the saturated fats and salt are still going to wreck your insides and tbh if I wanted a salad mcdonalds or any other fast food place is the last place id go unless I saw it made in front of me

This isn't surprising at all. It's from a third party rather than McDonalds themselves, and even if it were from McDonalds they can't avoid the fact that their food isn't the healthiest option to go for.

Sounds very responsible to me. People who live off fast food are doing it wrong. No issue here that I can see.

Exactly. Pains me to admit it, but some in the human race don't realise they can;t eat junk food all day and stay healthy.

It would be massively irresponsible for McDonald's to recommend their food for anything more than a rare treat. Especially employees who work for them get free stuff and discount cards, it would be tempting to eat there more often.

McDonalds have never once claimed their food ws in any way healthier than a salad.

that's probably because I think when the salads came out like the ceaser salad or chicken salad with a ceaser dressing on because of all the extra stuff in like the cheese was coated something else to make it taste even better it was actually more unhealthy than a lot of the burgers on the menu so that's prolly why dunno what there like now but if I want a salad ill make one at home its not hard plus it isn't going to be covered in crap

Apparently it was not McDonald's:

McDonald?s says it has shut down an employee resources website that contained posts advising its own workers to avoid eating too much fast food.

The McResource Line website now tells visitors that it is down for maintenance and upgrades are being made.

?A combination of factors has led us to re-evaluate, and we've directed the vendor to take down the website,? Lisa McComb, a spokeswoman for McDonalds USA, said in a statement. ?Between links to irrelevant or outdated information, along with outside groups taking elements out of context, this created unwarranted scrutiny and inappropriate commentary.?
