Can anyone tell me how "Google+ Auto backup" got installed on my machine without my permission?

I have just uninstalled in from Control Panel.

I can't believe google can install software on your machine without telling you and then "backup" your personal data (who know where) without telling you???

Google apps for pc do it all the time, it's packaged with the installer, I had to look around 3rd party sites for unpackaged versions of google photo screensaver, and google earth

...and picasa, as mentioned by zhangm

yeah, and it recently asked me to update it!.

I just wish they wouldn't sneak stuff like this in without making it clear what they are doing, anyway, it uninstalled cleanly from CP. Hopefully that's the end of it!
