Web Address Defaulting To Another Folder?

10 posts in this topic

I have a website that is defaulting to another folder other than the root public_html folder

How can I change this? I have deleted the old site that it is pointing to but the main web address still points to it.

www.mysite.com/otherfolder/home.html instead of www.mysite.com/index.html

You need to be more specific about what web server you are using, etc., otherwise I don't think people will be able to help

Check if there are any redirects in the .htaccess files and remove those to prevent redirection.

Go to cPanel, and then click on Redirects.

If there are any listed, remove them.  Otherwise, as above, check your ,htaccess.

Dont forget that .htaccess is hidden by default too, so you need to check the box to show hidden files when accessing through the cpanel file manager (or use ftp).

No redirects are setup. I did check that first. :) The .htaccess file is empty. Stuck on this....

Is that an addon domain or is that the default account domain?
