Anyone own a Chromebook

I got a free chromebook from Google, don't use it really. My regular laptop does everything the chromebook can and more. I do sometimes let other people see it to show how pointless it is :P

I see your username and am always reminded of the G-6155 interceptor (aka, the spy hunter car) was it deliberate?

i bet somehow you have not let the chrombook update    cause with all the new updates  it can in fact do  nearly 100%   of anything your windows laptop can do   and i say nearly    100% as  course gaming is one thing it cant do  nativly for  high end games but you can stream them using the remote desktop

I looked in to getting a Chromebook purely for writing, blogging and doing my accounts whilst sitting in front of the TV. Ultimately though it seemed like a bit of a waste so I just bought a Bluetooth keyboard for my iPad for about ?30. Does the job great :)

Someone answer me this:

I keep hearing conflicting reports that if you try to blow that ###### away and install a real OS, the BIOS will force a repair and reinstall (or it'll essentially be bricked if you've managed to nuke enough of it).  Others claim this "feature" can be disabled.  Which is it?

I'm tempted to get one for the cheap hardware and then install some Linux distribution on it.

watch this tutorial in how to do it:

A simple "yes" or "no" vs 5:23 of watching a kid type over his shaky cam (which could've been summarized with a  3 bullet point list).

Thanks?

I got a freebie chrome book a couple years ago.. The chromeOS is ok but I found Chrubuntu was way better for it (use an intel based chrome book for this, the arm version still has a lot of issues)

I'm on the verge of pulling the trigger on one. Most of my casual computer use is web, email and light document editing (mainly spreadsheets). I also drop in to SSH, VNC or RDP to a server. There are Chrome store apps to do all of the above (offline for email and docs).

I could even take it to work and use a VDI, because it would be much lighter than my corporate machine.

I'll post a review when I do pull the trigger.
