Here's mine.

The G13 has since been removed because I rather use the Corsair Vengeance K70 for gaming now that I have it. Also, those robot legs on the shelves are Gunpla builds :)

  • 2 weeks later...

I refer to this as my "command center".  When I'm home this is where I spend a lot of my time.  I labeled the photo to give a description of some of the things I have on my desk and what I use them for.

1) HP Pavilion p6803w computer.  Nothing too fancy, runs Ubuntu Linux 13.10

2) Stereo system that serves as my sound system for the computer, also could be an AM/FM radio, but the antenna I have on it is crap.

3) Land-line telephone for making and receiving phone calls.

4) Calendar I use to make notes on, the brown paper in front of it is a fly sticker.  We had a couple flies get in the house in the summer so since it didn't catch too many I left it up for next summer.

5) Police scanner.  Runs off a power cord, but has batteries built in if the power goes out.

6) CB Radio.  It's a Cobra 148 GTL with an 18 foot Antron A-99 antenna on the back porch that I have erected about 30 feet in the air.  I use it to chat with people in the area, and my wife and I use it as our primary means of mobile communication if one of us leaves the house since neither of us have cell phones.  I have similar radios in all vehicles.

7) 12 amp power supply for the CB radio, it is actually considered a professional "mobile" radio, so this is just a box that converts 120 volts AC to 12 volts DC.  Base stations essentially just have these built into them, but it was much cheaper for me to go this route, also lets me wire other things up like car chargers and anything else I have that you would normally use in your car.

8) Work area.  This is generally where I get work done.  Writing letters, soldering coax cables, working on guns, etc.

9) Soldering iron in a glass jar, the little stick thing in front of it is an incense burner

10) Butane torch for heavy duty soldering jobs, and some misc. tools and stuff under it like some gorilla glue, sandpaper, wire cutters, etc.

11) Clock and AM/FM radio, it picks up better than the big stereo does.

12) A list of the frequencies I programmed into my police scanner, so when it stops on a channel I have a reference for who is talking.

13) Handgun and hand-held CB radio

14) UPS.  Most of the things on here run through the UPS, but only the computer, monitor, clock/radio and CB radio are actually in the ports connected to the battery.  If the power goes it'll give me enough time to shut the computer down gracefully, and it'll power the CB radio for something like 4 hours.

Total attachment size for the last post doesn't let me add another image. So here's my home battlestation. I really want to get another of the vertical monitors. I'll have to post another picture when my monitor mounts arrive. No more useless receiver then  :)

Just a docking station I'm using for running recovery on that drive.

I had that wallpaper when I used a Mac.

ya, I really like that wallpaper, I HATE it when I work on customers computers and the wallpaper they are using is so busy you can't see the fracking icons.

That's almost as bad as the people that have so much crap on their desktops you can barely find an open spot, I've remoted into computers so cluttered I wanted to highlight everyting and delete them all, because even the user could not find things anymore
