Built-In White Noise Machine

Just noticed something today that somebody shared on Google+ and thought I would share.  If you run Linux, and you have the package "sox", installed, you can play some white noise by running the following in terminal:

play -c2 -n synth whitenoise band -n 100 24 band -n 300 100 gain +20

It just continues to play until you kill the terminal.  Here's a video I recorded of it real quick.

 

Obviously you can adjust the arguments of the command to change how it sounds.

Kinda cool in one respect, does it do anything else? like speak typed words etc... (not a Linux user so I genuinely don't know)

Not sure, I just discovered it myself, :P
