screen difference

Recommended Posts

Looking to get the FHD if it's proven to be superior. But as you can see the price difference is  significant.

  • T440p 14.0HD+ WWAN[add $50.00]
  • T440p 14.0FHD WWAN[add $200.00]

Mainly the difference is screen resolution of the display

HD+ (1600x900)

FHD (1920x1080)

If I have read correctly;

HD+ = Res of 1600 x 900
FHD = Res of 1920 x 1080

Not sure I would personally pay that much more for resolution alone but if money isn't a problem then why not.

EDIT: Damn it Geoffrey beat me :p

it's  a 14" screen, so would HD+ be sharp and crisp? Especially for reading LOTS of text?

yeah it'll be just fine (is on a 15" screen with 1440x900)

As others said, the physical screen size is too small to warrant the resolution increase at that price.

I would go for 1080p. There is no reason not to have 1080p on a 14" screen. It's 2014 not 2009...It's only $150 more than the other option, and if you plan to keep this laptop in the long run, it's worth it.

At work we use Dell Latitude with 14" display at 1600x900. It's not nearly as sharp as I want it to be. I'm just used to 1080p displays from my TV, to my computer monitor at home, to my smartphone. It annoys me that a 14" laptop can't have it, but a 4.8" smartphone can.

^what do you mean by double?

i did bad math, that was wrong.

i'd say that it's worth it for an upgrade from 768p, but can go either way from 900p which is what your lower res screen is. a matter of preference and tradeoff i guess
