An explanation of the Velvetta cheese shortage

Recommended Posts

So you have probably heard of the Kraft Velvetta shortage as of late.

USA Today story on it: http://www.usatoday.com/story/money/business/2014/01/07/kraft-velveeta-cheese-shortage/4358509/

I have a great reason on why.  It is because of the states that have legalized pot as of Jan 1.  Everyone suddenly has the munchies and want cheese dip to go with their chips.

People...put two and two together and you have your answer.  This is not rocket science. :D

Only 2 states have legalized it.  Would be a lot of cheese for those people to consume.

It's more of a tongue in cheek joke than anything else.  I'm sure Kraft is having some sort of production issue.

this is just a marketing tactic... the super bowl is coming up, they want to drum up sales so tada a shortage all the sudden! rush out and buy up what you can "find"... by find I mean my local grocery store has 40 packs of it sitting in the cheese section right now... and that is just one location...

Velveeta does make the best box mac and cheese, hands down. I don't ever use velveeta for anything else, but damn their shells and cheese are good!

you people are disgusting. I don't know how it got to processed cheese. Oh wait, its america's fascination with taking real cheese and making it into garbage.

but Dorito's and Cheetos aren't having any problems...

I just find it funny and coincidence that a few days after a couple of states legalize pot that velvetta suddenly is in short supply.
