Best and/or recommended "AO" rating games?

Recommended Posts

Hello,

Inspiration from another topic as well :p, Im wondering if there is any GOOD AO rated games.

What do I mean by good? Im not looking for a porn game or anything, just games that got a AO rating but are good to play from a game standpoint. I imagine there are very few but...

AO games only; GTA San Andreas for example does not count.

Also, names only please. Dont put any links as Im not sure with the explicit they are, they might not be allowed on Neowin.

Manhunt was pretty controversial. I thought it was rubbish, personally. When gore or controversy is the main idea behind a game I think it ruins it. Postal was another series which was absolute garbage.

Unfortunately, those are the types of games the media salivates over because they can terrorise pensioners and ignorant parents about the evil video game culture which is trying to turn your child into a murderer/rapist/drug-peddler/gangster/sociopath.

Although, I disagree on Postal II, I loved that game.

Although it was never released, I always remember Thrill Kill on the PS1 being a very memorable AO rated game, although I probably remember it just because it was banned. I think the game got re-reworked and gained a Wu Tang license, very toned down and called Wu Tang Taste The Pain (in the UK at least).

... That's all from memory though at the time, so I might be a bit wrong here and there.

Ha, Thrill Kill. I remember reading about it in gaming magazines back in the day. I think it was leaked online and it easily available.

Hello,

Any; Its just for knowledge and gameplay videos.

Manhunt was MO.

Googling I read about Thrill Kill. Might try to search for it and see if I can find a copy.

Hello,

Indigo Prophecy uncut.

Another of many games there were just toned down to reach M :)

My question is directed torwards games that have been released as AO; never toned up or toned down from/to M.

The Windows version is the full AO release.

Outside of that, it's all eroge, Playboy, M-rated re-releases like Manhunt 2 and San Andreas.

They said the uncut versions.  Those two examples had both M and AO versions you could acquire.  The M versions were wide release, the uncut versions were rarely found outside one or two digital vendors or imports.

Steam shows that as M-rated.

I think that's cause it has a 'safe' (child-lock) version which is a password protected game mode which meant that the game would play with low violence and bleeped out expletives. If you have the password than its full gore, swearing and violence.

I think you'll probably find that most "AO" games are "AO" because they have sexual or pornographic content. Reading the list linked to by Luc2k it seems most of the games on that list are of a pornographic nature.

Remember: games where you can shot and maim scores of people (usually Russians or Nazis, but also "terrorist looking") or aliens is fine. Digital nips or profanity? Nooooooooooooo! Save the children from this filth!

The binding of Isaac might have gotten AO if it had been released on console simply because it is blasphemous and the rating board would probably have been offended...
