DocM
http://touch.latimes.com/#section/-1/article/p2p-78805569/ Check Out The World's First Burrito Vending Machine The world's first burrito vending machine has debuted at a gas station in Los Angeles, and people love it. The "Burrito Box" offers five different burritos, all for $3, that you can select from a touch-screen menu. The varieties include Chorizo Sausage, Roasted Potato, Uncured Bacon, Free-Range Chicken and Shredded Beef. You can also add a side of Daisy sour cream for 50 cents, Tabasco for 65 cents or Wholly Guacamole for 75 cents. The website says the ingredients are 100% natural with no hormones or antibiotics. Once a selection has been made, the machine shows you all the nutrition and ingredient information, according to Los Angeles Times reporter Jenn Harris, who tested out the Burrito Box this week. >
FloatingFatMan
So does it actually make the burrito, like the pizza vending machine, or is it just microwaving prepacked burrito's?
Dick Montage
What an abhorrent idea.
DocM
So does it actually make the burrito, like the pizza vending machine, or is it just microwaving prepacked burrito's?I read it as frozen bagged burritos that are microwaved, and refrigerated mini-tubs of sides dispensed with them. What an abhorrent idea. That too, and with $15/hr for burger flippers etc. this is what we'll get - roboticized versions of the early 20th century Automats. KingCracker
I tend to stay away from vending machines that serv food and that picture of the burrito doesn't make me want to eat a burrito from a vending machine.

reactionary007
If this was Taco Bell and it dispensed Volcano Burritos I would totally want one. As it is, that picture doesn't look to appetizing.

Work in hospitality, and we actually still have ours in the canteen. Even after recent refurbishment, we still have 2 massive units we can`t rid ourselves of. And as you may have guessed, no they don`t work.
compl3x
Oh dear gawd! There is a fast food joint on every street in your country, do you really need to have food usually made by a human dispensed by a machine? (That wasn't a dig at you yanks, I am sure if they put one here in Aus people would eat it.) World's first burrito machine? With any luck it'll also be the last. DocM
The next big thing is 3D printed food, and no I'm not joking. NASA for spaceflights, commercial food companies for prepared foods (including Hershey's**) etc. Coming sooner than you think. ** http://philadelphia.cbslocal.com/2014/01/16/hershey-to-create-3-d-printed-edibles/

I wouldnt eat out of one of those...and I wouldnt eat out of one of these either. Gross We had those machines on base back when I was in the military. The fun thing to do was to steal someone's hat or wallet and buy something from the machine and put their stuff in the compartment before letting the door slide closed. adrynalyne 1 Share
