Right, having tried YouTubeCenter, it's quite nice, better than YousableTubeFix anyway.

Can't download 1080p videos, but that's a YouTube change (Dash means there isn't just one 1080p video files, there's chunks)

You can grab 1080p Dash videos with JDownloader (been my downloader of choice for a long time, in spite of being java). The awkward thing with them is you have to get the video and audio tracks separately and remux them. JDownloader automates this (ffmpeg required).

If you love the command prompt there's youtube-dl. You can then use ffmpeg to remux the tracks.

Youtube Center and another one I use (can't think of it's name right now sorry lol) are both great.

Sadly with Chrome nuking extensions from non-Chrome store locations  (Youtube Center FULL version aka download ability had to be installed off site) they are kinda borked now. Though I use Chrome Canary and other extensions programs so it's not an issue for me.

Freemake Video Downloader for example is imo the best software to download videos from Youtube and many other sites.

I use a script with greasemonkey http://userscripts.o...ipts/show/25105 It updates frequently and downloads every quality available.

And when I want to convert videos, since I don't like to install a bunch of programs for a single thing, I use http://www.clipconverter.cc/ :D

Isn't it illegal?

Probably.
Does anyone care?

I care if it in some way lands Neowin in hot water.

See, I couldn't get the original web page to work.

I added it as a bookmark, then went to YouTube but didn't see what to do then.  No options, no nothing :/

I understand if Neowin wants to lock this thread as it seems to have touched a line somewhere within the law.  Nontheless, if YouTube do decide to take action, I expect Neowin to point out the hundreds of other websites that are hosting the software to do this.

I would also expect TechSpot, who are partnered with Neowin for some news items, to also take down their pages on the same subject.

If you're referring to the post that you marked as best answer, the site seems to be working fine for me. You know that it is an extension to be installed on to Chrome though, right? You need to go to the site that Insanenutter provided and download it. Once installed, the button should appear on Youtube videos.

Regarding the legality of this, I'm pretty sure it isn't illegal. It may be against Youtube's ToS, but that doesn't make it illegal. With that said, I'm no lawyer. ;)

Personally I'm not sure which law exactly was broken. But I'm sure the MPAA would be nice enough to tell me :p
