SimCity offline mode is FINALLY coming

Thought it couldn't be done?

Unfortunately, the tiny city sizes completely destroy this game by making it very hard to create anything that feels worth the effort. I get they were trying to promote region play with the small sizes, but it doesn't work. Every city ends up needing its own power, water, etc because the transfers don't work properly and/or have hidden limits. Then by the time you've fitted the utility and specialty buildings in a city there is limited space for anything else (and the need for the arcology suddenly makes perfect sense). The game almost rubs your face in the stupid small sizes with notices about following the road guidelines to maximize space.

Anyone interested in this as a city builder - spend your money on Sim City 4, Tropico or CitiesXL instead.

Please - while CitiesXL allows larger cities, the graphics are badly broken.  Surprisingly, the only way to get SImCity 4 up to snuff (and this is true of the Deluxe version as well) is to mod it - even then, the graphics are actually worse than SimCity 3000. (No, I'm not kidding - I have all four of the Windows versions of SimCity, including the reboot.)

I'll be grabbing the Cities of Tomorrow expansion within the next week.

Tropico is more of a nation sim (specifically, a banana-republic sim); the actual size of the land area is little greater than a single city in the SimCity reboot - and smaller than a mid-sized region.  Nothing against Tropico, but it is what it is.

Not going to disagree that CitiesXL's graphics and engine could do with some work, but you at least get something resembling a city out of it. SimCity 4's graphics are fine as far as I'm concerned, and again you can build a huge city (or a whole region of cities, or a huge sprawling metropolis). Tropico may not be a huge city scale, but you still end up with something far more representative of a city than you do SC2013.

SC2013 wouldn't be bad if either the city sizes were bigger, or the gameplay actually worked within the city space provided.
