Settle an Argument

Recommended Posts

Is it acceptable to go outside and move your car in a dressing gown or other similar attire including but not limited to PJ Bottoms?

Please settle this argument with my girlfriend.

Her argument for this:

Having just moved to the area not knowing anyone yet. The first time we might bump into neighboughs would be me in a dressing gown.

They are bedroom clothes not to be worn outside in public.

My argument is that its a simple job and I cant be arsed with the faf of putting proper clothes on to move my car one or two parking spaces away.

I got to restaurants, movies, etc in sweatpants and a t-shirt, so does my wife.  Why would you are what people think of how you dress, as long as you are comfortable.  If you make a bad impression with your neighbors because you are wearing pj's, they would seem to me like shallow people that I wouldn't want to have as friends anyway.

Personally I wouldn't worry about it too much.. I figure if somebody's hung up by that then they're not going to like the rest of my idiosyncrasies either, good test to see if your neighbors are easy to get along with or not. Besides, if you don't want to see me lounging around in my underwear and a robe then stay out of the city park.

I don't really think it's a big deal, but I am a male. Women don't even understand how they think, so she is probably right in some way. Just agree.

I never thought about this before, not involving me anyway. You see it on TV regularly, people going to collect the morning paper in their boxers and a shirt, someone moving the car in their dressing gown. Heck, I remember reading an anecdote about a mother who was in such a rush to get her children to school that she forgot she had her slippers on and felt hugely embarassed.

If I saw someone going down their drive in their PJs, I wouldn't think twice about it. Who am I to tell them what is and isn't appropriate? (note: nudity would be a line not to cross.)

Someone in the bare essentials in town would cause me to look and possibly judge, but within the area of your domicile, especially in the morning, who cares? It doesn't offend me, there is nothing to be offended at.
