Picked it up from the dealer this morning w/ 50k miles. I traded my old car which was a 2005 Honda Civic EX w/ spoiler which had a 133K miles

Although it's not an AMG it has a few AMG derived packages such as the 18" rims, proximity sensor, navi, heated leather, and keyless ignition

Congrats! Ironically, I made a very similar move - '05 civic to '07 CLS 63 AMG. Sadly, I had to sell the AMG. Absolutely love the W219 CLS. The W218 just doesn't do it for me

Hah, that's pretty cool how we traded the same cars. What was the body style on your Civic? I had the coupe.

Interestingly enough a lot of people share the same opinion on the W218. I sat in one at the dealership early last year however I didn't test drive that model. What was your gripe with the W218?

Sedan, LX. Nice car, but lacked power. So, I decided to step up from 117 hp to 507 hp

Don't get me wrong, the W218 is nice, but I think the W219 is much more classy and understated. It is after all the design that started a whole new segment of cars - from the Audi A7 (and S7/RS7), to the BMW 6GC, to the VW CC, etc. Side by side, the W219 looks just far better imo. If only they put the 5.5 L TT into the W219 chasis  :woot:

Hello,

Price? Gas or gasoil?

Spent about 25K (negotiated a few thousand down). CLS500 uses a gasoline engine not sure what gasoil is. I learned from my parents when they bought their cars they had an E320, and 430, their cars depreciated ridiculously. I shopped smart and took the depreciation out. I graduated my bachelors a few weeks ago so this made for a good present  :)

II exactly wanted to make that  jump to a much more powerful car, it's like we had the same idea lol. I'm still amazed just feeling 382hp.

Folks also have a 97 SL320 but it needs repairs, the engine cranks but won't start. Getting parts though

Yeah, 382 hp is a good amount. Your badge says CLS 500, I thought those have about 300 hp? Either way, plenty of power! Here in the US, the CLS 500 was only available in 2006, as was the CLS 55 AMG (supercharged v8). Then in 2007-2011, they changed to CLS 550 (382 hp), and CLS 63 (507 hp).

I like the Mercs, when I was a BM tech in the 70s, quite a few of our service customers brought their Mercedes cars in for oli changes, but in the 90s a close relative of mine had a  SL 60 AMG, I'm sure it was that one, a 7 litre V12, and wow, I went off to collect it for him from a dealer in middle England, and drove it home, unbelievable acceleration, and the road between Newcastle and Edinburgh being particularly interesting, Wow, the corners come up fast... :)

Hope you enjoy your CLS, really lovely

Ah thanks for the clarification, I was actually stumped if I had read the wiki wrong. But 307 is definitely a number I can live with. What kind of headlight cleaners would you recommend applying?

The CLS headlights can get foggy. I never did take care of mine - I didn't they were that bad. I've used the 3M headlight restoration kit on my Civic, saw great results.
