PSU Recommendations

Recommended Posts

I have 5 HDDs and will be getting a second 7870 XT, so I need to upgrade my 550W PSU.

I need at least 750W I believe.

It seems modular 750W PSUs start at around ?70.

I only want to pay between ?70 and ?90.

These are my options:

  • ?71 - 750W Corsair Builder Series CX750M 80PLUS Bronze Modular
  • ?83 - 850W XFX Pro XXX Edition 80PLUS Bronze Modular
  • ?84 - 750W Corsair CS750M CS Modular 80 Plue GOLD-RATE 12V
  • ?87 - 750W be quiet! Power Zone Modular

Which would you go for and why?

EDIT: I should have checked if these PSUs have the correct cabling for 2x video cards. I'll assume for now that they do.

I'd probably get CS750M. It's half-modular and Gold. There are no reviews yet (it's pretty new series), but there's my belief that one can't really hit Gold efficiency with crap components and bad design.

This site does some really good PSU reviews, including proper thermal and load testing.

Im pretty sure most of those PSU's are on there.

When it comes down to it you are comparing 4 very good PSUs!

I'd probably take the higher efficiency of the CS750 unless you needed the little bit more power the XFX gives you.

AFAIK BeQuiet! and XFX are re-branded Seasonic, where as the Corsair models are own-brand. If it were me, I'd get the CS750M too, same as Phouchg or the BeQuiet model.
