Hello,

There's no one set standard/implementation for IP-based videoconferencing.  Check with the manufacturer of the video conferencing solution for compatible Android apps.

Thanks for the reply but as I mentioned before we are able to easily dial in from remote locations using Windows using several free software. If it helps here is the model of the videoconfrencing setup >>> http://enterprise.huawei.com/en/products/coll-communication/telepresence-videoconference/room-tele-systems/hw-314090.htm

Why would using a static IP stop you from using SIP?

Edit: Your setup uses SIP.

Im not sure I understand...we dont have a SIP account...Im just asking if there is an aap on android that allows dialing via IP address

Hello,

According to the specifications for the Huawei RP100-xx/RP200-xx devices, they support two connection protocols, H.323 and SIP, both of which have their roots back in the mid-1990s.

Personally, I'd lean towards SIP, since I see that mentioned more often these days, but it's up to you.

One thing to keep in mind is that while SIP is an IETF standard, there are many different implementations of it, and you can end up with things like devices which have trouble connecting, or connect okay, but don't communicate, etc, due to configuration errors, codec mismatches and the like.

So, in order to avoid any problems, I would suggest the following:

1.  Contact Huawei's technical support department.

2.  Ask them which mobile (iOS, Android, Windows Phone, etc.) work best with the device in question.

My last job was at a company which made SIP-based telecommunications gear (telephone systems, though, not video conferencing), and we had a specific list of third-party devices and software that we maintained compatibility for.  If it wasn't on that list, we didn't guarantee compatibility.  Chances are, Huawei has something like this for their devices.
