Polling rate and CPU loads

Hi everyone,

 

I am thinking of getting gaming pc and mouse. Not that I play games but I like the back light and design.

 

When I go through the specs, there is this adjustable polling rate. Googling some more, I now know it is how frequent the PC should check for response from the devices.

 

Now, a normal keyboard and mouse are 125, with the gaming keyboard and mouse, it can be up to 1000.

 

Will this value affect the pc loads? And if I use generic drivers, are those gonna set to the default of 125?

 

I never know keyboard and mouse have so many options lol.
