Bieber Gets Off

Recommended Posts

I knew he'd get off. The whole thing was nothing more than a PR stunt.  Like Smiley Virus, he's trying to go for a bad girl image.

ROFL

I don't know if you meant that as a funny post but Bieber as a bad girl was hilarious.

(Explains a lot about him too) :d

god what a pathetic state over there, i love this line "Other contradictory claims include police records that Bieber "stunk of alcohol", despite the alcohol levels in his bloodstream only measuring at .014" i didnt know that ANY alcohol was OK for a 19 year old, whats the drinking age again? I dont understand how that is just swept under the rug, UNDER AGE DRINKING AND DRIVING but hey its only .014 so well just drop it.

I must be missing something because not 1 actual US news site is reporting this.  Is this for real or just a joke?

EDIT: Even tmz isn't reporting this.  This has got to be a joke.

TMZ reported it on todays live show.

he only blew a 0.014 blood alcohol

the GPS/black box in his rental car only shows a speed of 27 mph in the stretch were the cops say he was "racing." Video seems to confirm this.

they also reported that the cops in this area have a rep for being somewhat enthusiastic about traffic stops.

I like how people are saying he "only" blew xyz as a way to justify it, that is still illegal no matter which way you look at it, he is 19 which is under the legal drinking age of 21, and driving. The minimum he should get is a Wet and Reckless but in all honestly he deserves a DUI and should have the book thrown at him for all his antics.

It is not illegal to have drunk alcohol in most states. The laws generally cover possession and purchasing.

I was reading the article and this stood out at me...

Others have called into question who should be held responsible for the teen, who, at 19, is still considered a minor in need of adult supervision in the United States

uh, what? at 18 you are considered an adult in the USA

My "only" was in comparison to how it was originally portrayed.

I'd like for him to get hammeted too, however the problem is that in Florida the limit for those under 21 years old is 0.02 and he blew a 0.014.

Also and fpr reference, a healthy person metabolizes alcohol at a rate of about 0.015 per hour.

There are reports he was smoking marijuana too.  That can be used against him in a DUI.  Surprised they didn't test him for it.

but he was driving, most places under 21 and any alcohol while driving is illegal.

I apologize to all who I made a fuss with, apparently you can slap me and call me sally

"Zero Tolerance for Drivers under 21

Florida has a Zero Tolerance law for drivers under 21. This means that any driver under 21 that is stopped by law enforcement and has a blood alcohol level of .02 or higher will automatically have their Florida drivers license suspended for 6 months. The .02 limit really means that you cannot have a single drink and drive. And that's the idea."

He was below 0.02 BAC. Most states have the same law.

Good catch. Who writes this crap?

If I had to guess the whole thing probably got thrown out because the initial pull over was unjustified.  Or perhaps the reasons the officer used to qualify that there was reasonable suspicion to conduct a field sobriety test were not good.  That is typically how these things get thrown out.

Once a lawyer has established that the pull over was unjustifiable and/or the field sobriety test was unjustifiable, then it really doesn't matter what evidence they collect after that fact: It is all thrown out.

Or the fact that he's a celebrity

(I remember Donny Osmond bragging about being immune to some traffic offences, purely because he is Donny Osmond)

That is probably true... but the reasons I stated will probably be the 'official' reasoning from the judge in the case.
