It might be that the indexes are gone, but the data still is there. It might be that the drive has crashed. What is the best recovery tool to find these lost partitions/indexes and to retrieve them? Both freeware and paid alternatives are welcome for mentioning... Edit: Anyone familiar with http://www.paretologic.com/products/datarecovery/pro/ ? Software has to run with Windows 8.x in mind... 0 Dark-Heart Posted January 31, 2014 Share Posted January 31, 2014 Try http://www.piriform.com/recuva everyone I've recommended it to has managed to recover all there data back... even if they have deleted there partition. It's also 100% free and works on Windows 8. BUT MAKE SURE YOU DON'T FORMAT OR MAKE A NEW PARTION ON THE DRIVE, as it will make recovering the data harder. The drive cannot be accessed anyhow. I have to get a SATA-USB adapter and connect the drive to another computer for the possible file retrieval. You are going to have to do a deep scan to be able to get it. It works much better than recuva ever did for me (actually saw all of my files vs some or none of my files)....that was many years ago though I am sure that they have made break throughs on actually doing what they are supposed to do. easeus will recover the 1st GB of data, then you need to pay for the product. They are not free, but an evaluation version is available which will examine disks, so you can determine whether or not to purchase it for the recovery functions.
