Internet Security Suites; Kaspersky, ESET, Bitdefender; what to choose?

Question

I am kinda looking for a new Internet Suite.I currently have Kaspersky PURE (but it is kinda heavy on resources and SafeMoney/Virtual Keyboad is blocking on IE-sites).

I used to have KIS2014 installed, but upgraded to PURE (same price, more features). I guess this was a mistaken.

So, back to start with my research.

I found that Kaspersky KIS/PURE, ESET Security 7 and Bitdefender IS kinda have the same detection rates, real-world performance etc etc.

Is this right?

And is one of these suites just "personal preference" to install, since they are all equally performing in protecting my computer(s)...

ESET is the best among all of those in terms of detection rates, memory usage, etc. I've been using ESET for years, never had a problem. Convinced all my friends also to switch over, no issues reported from them also. :)

Been using MSE and lately been running Avast Premium too. MSE does let things though so if you are planning on using just MSE, install something to run alongside it.

save the money, choose something free if you really need it. Antiviruses are so 00's

My opinion also!

To many good, free one's out there to be paying for bells and whistles that are next to useless!

Currently running Outpost Security Suite 9(trial version) and liking it.  tried AVG Business Edition last month, and liked it too, AVG seems to have a deal on just now, but it's not for the "full version"

I also use Bitdefender. They have gotten the highest mark in all 3 categories on the above test site for years. I had Norton which was great but switched to Bitdefender. I don't perceive any system resource drag ever. It actually found a few things Norton had obviously missed.

Research before choosing some prefer free some prefer paid but it comes down to what passes with the best security and lowest impact without obstructing your own browsing needs or system

http://www.av-test.org/ is a good site to check with also checking on Wikipedia on the company and antivirus software for past issues

ESET and Kaspersky remain at the top but others may have joined their ranks these days.

Personally, I use KIS because a 3pc licence can always be had for <~$20. That works out to pennies per day, which I feel is worth it for a comprehensive anti-malware and firewal with updates every few hours. Brick and mortar stores have those sales multiple times a year, and even if you don't catch one you can always buy the previous year's on Amazon for that price. All you need is the licence key and download the latest installer from their website.

I've been using Kaspersky Internet Security for years and its been very good, but I don't pay for it. My bank gives it to me for free, as they do for all online banking customers. Might be worth checking if your bank also gives offers one for free.

I've been trialling Kaspersky Internet Secuity 2014 for a few weeks. It's good, except had a few system crashes, completely frozen. Was always stable before so uninstalled and now trying ESET with no problems so far.

I had Norton NIS  last year and it was ok.

I tried bitdefender TS and it is quite ok now.Actually better.

Only plus in KIS was their banner ad blocker.I liked it.but we have now adblocker plus plugin for most browsers
