(I hope it is OK to post links) I bought above mentioned tablet http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/121228145297 and few accessories intending to use it as Traffic Recorder(Dash Cam) and (ideally iGO SatNav application) for my travels through Europe (mainly UK) Main specs: Specifications: General Operating System Android 4.1 CPU ARM?Cortex-A7? Bluetooth Yes, 4.0 GPS Yes,Built in Telephone Yes,built-in 2G GSM;850/900/1800/1900MHz 3G WCDMA:850/2100 MHz In specs and images it was posted as (all is rather optimistic and NOT what it came like!) it appeared as and issues with me trying (and achieving some sort of control level) there from (as in couple of days of my working's on it) So, I have managed to disable some apps, once managed to get mobile networking connections to the 1Mobile Market and get some apps to work, but not GooglePlayStore. Most of remaining (and new apps) are not in Chinese no more, so I am very hopefull, that with rooting I'll get rid of the rest of them gremlins. Here's the hardware version Here are configuration, that was needed to get anything anywhere in English The questions to you Gentleman (and) Ladies: (I managed to get few app stores to work, but majority of apps dont work without googlePlay) 1- Do I have to (must) root the device, so that GooglePalyStore would work? as currently, it is installed, but majority of apps are kicking some or the the sort of errors(unsupported etc), and actual GoogleStore app- "works" via Browser... 2- If yes, how do I (step by step) root it in order to have better control? (what applications( with links please) I should install for such Odyssey and what order etc please!? 3- If rooting, is it possible to Get IE 4.4.0 ROM to install?(instead of 4.1.1)- what will happen to the features of IE analogTV receiver hardware management? 4- Would it matter at all, if device is not rooted, but intended to be installed iGo Primo is packaged somehow with GooglePlay app?- will it work? or will that "modified" app work with rooted device all together? You probably won't be able to root this as this is a no name knock off tablet from china. I doubt anyone has taken the time to figure out a root for it. Best best is to ask over on xda dev forums. 2. As this is a no name tablet, it isn't licensed for any google apps and probably will never get access to the play store. 3. Unless you can get some type of root done, no other rom will work. Unfortunately, it does sound as you are correct (as in current state, by the symptoms as how it is), though very many apps from 1MobileMarket- does work faultless. BTW I posted in xdaForum, with no answer as yet or maybe it is indicating you being absolutely correct? 2. As this is a no name tablet, it isn't licensed for any google apps and probably will never get access to the play store. Not optimistic, but trial and error ways- I've seen people posting about other no-names, (Phablets), that get GooglePlayStore to work (by force installing the app... (didn't work for me) leaving an idea of matching hardware(for ROM) and/or rooting, could solve the issue perhaps? 3. Unless you can get some type of root done, no other rom will work. as for rooting I am facing dilemma for now there are generic rooting tools, that could(or not) override admin rights, BUT if I do so- I will not be able to return bleeding thing back to seller, based on "item not being as described" (advertised android 4.1 and in pictures, then received item is "improved in Chinese" version of android 4.1.1, hence issues... In between all of them Navigation apps posted- NONE locked up to satelites Anyone following or caring or pretending to know a tad about android rooting process few screen-shots to make a sense, as what I am on about:...
