Need Mac Remote Desktop Solution

Recommended Posts

Hello all, I am in need of a Mac Remote Desktop solution. I know I can use Teamviewer, LogMeIn, or VNC.. But I was hoping to find one that will lock the screen when I remote in.. So, I need to remote from home I can work privately.. Has anyone else found a good solution for this?

Thanks!

Apple remote desktop does exactly this.

Same idea, but of course it's $80, so if you're looking to unlock the Mac specifically, that's the only solution. :) On a Mac Mini, it's more stressful because most are unresponsive when connected by HDMI instead of a Thunderbolt Display. But, maybe ARD can bypass this problem.

My Mini is completely responsive with Teamviewer using HDMI monitors.

I'm talking about when the monitors off. Did you ever try to use the new Knock App on a Mac Mini?

Of your options that you provided, LMI was/is the only one at the moment that allows for macs to do a black screen/lock the screen when you remote into it.  Of course LMI isn't free anymore so that may not be an option for you.  It seems that this is a limitation of TV but who knows for how long considering how popular it is now.

If you are using a mac to remote into a mac, then ARD is the best option.  Of course that isn't free either.
