I know I'm late to this one, but :( I definitely remember interacting with him. Not much more I can add to what Larry and Andrew said--he really was top-notch and handled his condition with amazing peace. He was happier than some of us choose to be even in perfect health, and I admire that so much. RIP, man. Hope you're enjoying that big golden arcade in the sky, where there's never an exclusive you can't play, nor any n00bs on the server. :)

Wow, I won't lie.. this title shook me when i read it.. BelGaRaTh was the member that was so easy to remember and I think I even had him in my friend's list on Xbox.

It's so sad.  Even though we never really knew each other, being a part of the community for so long with all the bumps and disagreements we all have on occasion, when I read that he passed it felt like he was the person I actually knew even though it was mostly in the context of games and virtually.

It just shows us that life is so fragile, and internet has given us a way to communicate to each other and even though sometimes it grabs the worst of us, we should all be nicer to each other and remember the things that are important in life and kindness is one of them which BelGaRaTh had.

R.I.P. BelGaRaTh you will be missed.

I didn't know him but it always makes you stop and think about things when you learn someone on a community you've frequented for years passes away. It's happened on other forums I use and it's quite sobering sometimes.

Rest in peace dude.

Indeed, rest in peace mate (Y)

I do not play video games much and I never knew this person but it is sad when one is gone for good. Been a year since I lost my beloved grandmother.

In honor of this man I have created the below to remember him by. R.I.P friend.

Sorry for just noticing this now, and thanks for the initiative and for creating the badges, Larry. This does make one think. Belgarath will be missed by many, including those that argued with him, as in communities such as ours even the bickering is done with love.

Personally believe he is in better place now, and he will be remembered.

I popped back here due to that random subscriber email and saw this pinned.

RIP BeLGaRaTH, I never played a game with you, but I remember your name from the many many hours some of us spent here back in the day.

Nice to see you pop back in Corris :)

I've let some members who no longer visit know about Belgarath's passing and thanks to the rest of you for posting your messages (Y)

Thanks. I got inspired after seeing the thread and never even knowing the man. Just thought it was something worth doing. Glad you liked it

Very touching, and I was just thinking of Belgarath today. It's true we all have to go away from this world at some point, but sometimes it's the passing of someone you didn't necessarily know that well that drives the point home. Best not dwell on the dark side of this too much, I am sure he is in a better place now :(

I was going through my Steam library the other day because of an Article about how a % of games in peoples Steam libraries are not even played (mine was 71%), and sure enough under one of the games was a comment from BeLGaRaTh about that game. Such a small thing but it really made me think about life and death. And how it is especially strange that a person can "live on" thanks to technology even if they are no longer with us physically.

It is all lives and times, indeed. This is something to remember him by, but also very sad. Cannot be helped, and it's better than having no reminder that we were ever here.

That has happened to me a few times too. Just last night in fact when I was looking at the Red Orchestra 2 deal on Steam and John has it on his wishlist :(

What also bums me out, albeit it's silly in the grand scheme of things, is he never got to see what the new consoles were like :( IIRC he tweeted during the PS4 event but he never got to see the X1 and missed out on some landmark games I know he was excited for.

I'll probably never remove him from my friend lists, as much as it is a reminder he is gone, it's also a comfort in many ways.

Another person late to post on this one, but RIP BeLGaRaTh.

Like some others have mentioned, I'm still friends on Facebook with a colleague who passed away suddenly last year. I also have his contact details in my 'phone, and his desk at the office is still vacant.

Another colleague opened the desk drawers of the deceased last week and found a calculator with their finger prints on

I just noticed this and was shocked. I had no idea. We used to talk all the time but life happens and we stopped talking.  I know he had been battling some serious health issues but last I remember, he was doing well.  He was a really nice guy and a great person.  I regret not having the opportunity to talk to him again before he passed away.

RIP buddy

Spyder, no regrets, things happened as they did and there was no ill intent, as you said life happened. Missing and remembering is all you can do.

It's not silly at all. I've shared some with you, and said many times here that gaming is one of the things keeping me alive. There's always more games to look forward to, and the new consoles were definitely something i didn't want to miss, hence buying them both though not loaded exactly. John would have loved the new experiences and everything that is going on now, including the bickering, which even when it gets bitter we all know is out of love. I hope he can somehow still watch over it all and is smiling somewhere
