+longgonebn Subscriber² Posted February 8, 2014 Subscriber² Share Posted February 8, 2014 I am going to be starting to do Vlogs on YouTube and I ended up getting the Panasonic HC-V100. It was rated high enough, it's small, had the features I needed and a decent price. For doing Vlogs it's great. Now though, I want to do more than just vlogs, such as Reviews, Unboxings, Room Tours and want to know if a certain style is only possible with high end DSLRs etc. If you check out MKBHD's videos (https://www.youtube.com/user/marquesbrownlee) you can see the style that I'd like to create. Slow panning, fading out to in, and things like that. Is that kind of style, possible with a camera like the HC-V100, or just higher end ones? I also love the nice text (or image) on-top of the video, so I am going to want to learn how to do that (also just learning Premier Pro) so any suggestions on places to learn tricks, tips, how-tos etc.
ichi
Everyone seems to be recording with DSLRs these days, even for videoclips. You don't even need a really high end one, a DSLR around the same price of a decent camera will give you a hell of a lot more focus control with the same video quality. Anyway regarding those smooth camera effects they can also be done in postproduction, shooting at a higher res and framing than the final output video and then zooming or panning a smaller frame without resizing the original video (so it seems the camera is panning or zooming when you are actually using a still shoot, and because the original video is at higher res you don't lose quality).
