Accessing Safe Mode in Windows 8.0 and 8.1

Goto Charms bar

Click on Restart, Hold down Shift key

From the Window that opens, select trouble shooting

Select Advance Options, then start up settings

select safe mode from the boot options

The entire point of Safe mode is to boot the computer when it won't start normally. What good are those directions (which are the same ones Microsoft gives) if the computer won't boot.

Take right now for example .

Right now I have a customers PC that has 8.0 and I updated the intel drivers but when I install 8.1 on the final boot it goes black. I have 8.1 drivers that I think I can install from safe mode but I can't get there.

So here I have a laptop that won't boot properly because I just get a black screen, probably because of the Intel drivers, so now what?

Now i'm down right ######. On my second attempt of installing 8.1 same black screen and still can't get bring up the fracking safe mode screen. Windows 8, what a pile of ######!

I feel your pain, but I don't think you can condemn Windows 8.1 for this unique situation. The think installs fine on millions of configurations, you've got to allow for the one in a million.
