It's a shame that Network Rail will move the rail line inland, but then we may never get flooding like this again for years. Where I live we have one huge puddle that is over one side of the road and that's it, so pretty boring. But then I live pretty high up. A 15 min drive down the road and the weather is completely different - it can be cold and foggy where I live but a few miles away it's blazing sunshine. The Evil Overlord Posted February 11, 2014 Share Posted February 11, 2014 I live in Wolves, as mentioned earlier, my street is inclined so all run off goes somewhere else, I've seen the farmlands over most of the mid/southern half of the country near uk motorways, and they're all flooded, I can only imagine the horrors farmers must be facing (lost crops etc...) I don't personally know anyone to date who was affected, but feel for those who are.. Like I said my street's inclined so the floodwater runs off into the main road away from where I live, and I happen to know that the main road's drainage cannot cope with it. Last year (or maybe it was the year before) the shops on that main road had sandbags on their doorsteps as the water did in fact get that high, (but usually it doesn't last long) to give an idea, most of the small shops around here have a good 6+ inch step up, to get into the shops Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Visited Guildford a few weeks ago and there are still shops shut at the bottom of the high street. Looking inside you can see the amount of damage done by the water. Never good to see that. Nothing.Feel bad for the folk of Devon etc, been there lots on holiday visiting my Uncle.As several folk have suggested. Government should be using some foreign aid money to undo the cuts they made to the Environment Agency`s budget and get more pumps imported/brought in and adequate mitigation taken! I have ample space and bandwidth I am going to use that website to create a very simple webpage that has three sections with all the CEO/High Level contacts. Council Leaders/Emergency Services/Government Contacts Insurance Companies Any other, News Outlets. Then send this around all the social media outlets for people to share and get around people in affected flood areas in the UK at the moment.
