Xbox One - Rechargeable Batteries options?

Recommended Posts

I've been wondering this recently but I figured out I can get something like the below much cheaper, and since there are 4 batteries I can always have two charging whilst using so I'll never need to rely on the cable.

Any suggestions from owners on rechargable batteries for the controller?  The only solution I've seen is the Xbox One Play & Charge.     http://www.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-one/accessories/batteries-chargers/play-and-charge-kit

Is this any good or is there better out there?

When I plug in the charging cable, nothing happens. It just powers the controller but it does not charge the batteries inside. So I bought the Play & Charge kit.

Also had it on my 360 (but one of them died fairly quickly) but the others are working fine in my 360 and the One controller. It's convenient, never having to switch batteries :) I recommend

I have been using the Play N Charge kit since December 21st, and so far so good. In fact I just had to recharge my controller again over this past weekend. I recommend it myself.

I would do what a few people here have said. Pick up a charger and rechargeable batteries from Amazon (Energizer or Duracell) and you should be set.

With all the RRoD consoles I bought over the years, I have an abundance of Duracell batteries that came with the included controllers. I never used one set and opted for my P&C kit each time. I'm now making my way through them all seeing as they're about to hit their expiry date

The official pack is expensive now but it'll drop in price eventually. I'd recommend holding off til then and using AAs in the mean time.

Why, you have to take the battery off of the unit to charge it, which is harder to do with Xbox one since it has a cover. What I posted earlier works great, it's a dock, set the controller in it and done - http://www.amazon.com/Nyko-Charge-Base-Xbox-One/dp/B00FLLFJE0

I don't have room for a dock but I used to have the 360 battery thing with 2 batteries always charging under the side table (near the plug).  Battery got low I swapped it out in a couple seconds.  Yes, there's the cover, but it's not like I have to change it every day.  Once every month or two...  at least until more games come out ;)

I have always used the Nyko ones. I had one for the xbox 360 and it honestly lasted 7 years with 0 issues. I purchased one for the xbox one the day it came out and have been using it ever since. I swear by them just for their ease of use and ability to just put them down to charge and walk away. Controller is always ready to go when you come back

I have about 15 energizer batteries I have been using for years.  Few XBOX controllers and remote controllers.  Some are going bad so I need to replace them but I have not bought a normal AA battery in a looong time.  Pay more up front, less in the long run.

I have an older charger that can take several hours to charge 2 batteries.  No big  deal since 4 are on the charger at all times.  I find the quick chargers dont do as good a job.

Those charger with batteries seem like a good deal...but the charger is crap.  After a few charges, lights will start blinking and the batteries will never charge.  I tossed out a few batteries thinking it was the battery when it was the charger.  I put the same batteries in my bigger/more expensive charger and they  charge just fine.

This.  Many times this.

I have 3 controllers for my 360, and 5 of the rechargeable battery packs with one of these chargers. When a battery dies, I instantly switch it with one that's been charging in the charger, and I'm good to go.  I don't want to have to dock the controller, because it's something extra I need to remember to do, and if I forget (which is very likely), it means I need to wait a while for the battery to recharge before I can start playing.  I don't mind removing a battery cover, if it means I can instantly swap the drained rechargeable pack with a fresh one, all ready to go.   If they don't offer something like this, I might end up trying to find a good rechargeable battery system that actually works...

Eneloops

The best rechargeable batteries you can buy. Totally worth the money. I made the switch from regular Energizer rechargeables last year, and they have been infinitely better. So much so, that I bought a bunch more and replaced all of the other batteries in my house.

Yeap, if you're going the rechargeable battery route, Eneloop is definitely the way to go.

I think someone already mentioned it, but I picked up this http://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-licensed-Energizer-Charging-System-Xbox/dp/B00EADTVLW/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1392149593&sr=8-1&keywords=xbox+one+energizer+charger

I had the engergizer charger for my Wii since launch and the batteries are still going today.  Almost picked up the contoller/battery pack today for $75 but I have no use for a 2nd controller yet.
