Backup Routine

Question

Hello,

I am interested in suggestions or ideas on peoples current back up routine? I am using a laptop so have been doing this manually by copying and pasting the C:\Users\Username folder onto an external hard drive. I do this once a month and back up any crtical files such as photos take on phones etc. get uploaded to Skydrive in the meantime.

I have downloaded EaseUS ToDo back up which looks like a better solution, although I believe this program compresses the files into a single file rather than copying all the contents to another drive.

Any suggestions/best practice for backing up? Backing up everything to cloud is not practical as I have about 200GB worth of data.

Thanks

Luke

I've set up File History on Windows 8 to copy modified files from my libraries to a backup drive on my home machine. This gives me a limited ability to browse back through different file versions, though I've found that it isn't as good as Previous Versions in Windows 7 (for versioning).

Personal documents are synced between three computers at home and work, as well as in the cloud using Skydrive. I'm fairly casual about backing up files, so I'm happy with having put almost no effort into my current system and having at least two copies of every file (more if you count the ones at the NSA).
