Sending Mass Text for Work

Question

So due to the weather situation going on in the south this winter, we have decided that our Distribution Center would like to see about the ability to send out mass texts to any employee who gives us their # to let them know of plant closings, etc.  Problem is, we do not want to use one of our Human Resources employee's phones or anything due to the 300+ employee's we have working here.

So my question is, does anyone know of a free way that we can set up something to send out mass texts like this?

generally if you know the carrier you can email 214345818@carriertextdomainname.com  and it will be sent to the user as a text. Fairly quick and simple to do without the use of a phone to send the message out.

Set it up as a distribution group in your mail client and you will be able to mass text.

here are 3 major ones:

verizon wireless is 123456789@vtext.com

actually I found a perfect way using remind101.com   Its what teachers use for classroom information. It allows each user to sign up themselves and all you have to do is send the text. Works perfect. Thanks for the suggestion though

My kids school district uses honeywell instant alert, an alert is sent by email, txt, and/or phone call to us to let us know of closings or other important issues.  I would guess that is not free.
