My Brother multifunction is listed as not compatible on the Compatibility site, but I was still able to get it working. Here's a rough overview of the steps: Run the "Add Printer" wizard, and rather than having it check Windows Update for drivers, choose the option to choose a driver from a list. Scroll down until you find the HP listed on the left, and look for Laser Class drivers on the right. Install the first, and do a test print. If it works, you're good to go. If not, delete the printer, and repeat with the next one in the list. If you find one that works, but isn't the best quality, make a note of it and keep trying, You can always come back to it if there isn't a better option. Unfortunately, there's no guarantee that you'll find one that does the job, but there's no harm in trying. All it'll cost you is a little time and toner. If you need more help, I can go into more detail tonight when I have my Surf RT on hand. But this is the basics, at least. If you can find one that is at least close to the series, it should at the very least provide basic printing functions. For example, I use to use the LaserJet 4 driver tons of different printers, even non-HP ones, and it always worked. You can try to shotgun it and see what works. I don't have my Surface RT in front of me at the moment, but I know there are several HP LaserJet drivers available natively. There is also the HP Printer Control app in the Windows Store, which installed on my Surface last time I plugged in an older HP printer via USB. jamieakers Posted February 12, 2014 Share Posted February 12, 2014 In the past I've hooked my HP up to a Windows machine, shared the printer and then connected to that share. It shouldn't make a difference but in my experience it most definitely has - it's allowed me to print to printers not supported by Windows 7/8 by sharing from a little XP box for example.
