Odom Member Posted February 13, 2014 Member Share Posted February 13, 2014 I recently got Windows 8.1 and I'm trying to understand how to get Skydrive working on it whilst having a local account in Windows. Is that even possible? When I try to download the desktop app I only keep getting pages for the store, but never actually manage to download the app. Skydrive tells me I need to use my Microsoft account in Windows, but then I always have to type in my password to log into Windows. Is there a way around this?
ShadowMajestic
I heard there was a loophole somewhere, but basically the answer is "No". And to make login easier, you could add a pin or picture password?

Is there a way around this? Just change your account to use a pin instead of a password or a picture password if you don't want to type a full password. That's going to be the easiest fix for this. Personally I cant see why anyone would use Windows 8 or 8.1 without a Microsoft account. Its just too integrated to not use it. Half the crap in the OS wont work without it. Lastly your only other choice is just use the web client for skydrive.
astrokat
If you can find your skydrive URL, you can map to it as a network drive.
Odom Member Posted February 13, 2014 Author Member Share Posted February 13, 2014 We are more than one person at home usimg the PC, and I don't want to use my Microsoft account in Windows because then there is full access to everything Microsoft. I also want to turn on the PC and have it go to the desktop without the need to login with a password or pin.
gohpep
You can also set it to automatically login. Just don't change your password :)
