Dead PC issue need to resolve ASAP

Recommended Posts

Hi guys, been helping a client with a pc Issue, They have an Asus p8h61-m Pro motherboard with a Celeron g530 2.4ghz. Anyway, Was asked to go around to day find out why it wasnt booting up. the comp switches on, Power to Drives CPU fan , but nothing to Monitor , Keyboard and mouse dont light up, Also there is no speaker on the board so no beeps

I have removed all non essential hardware, reset cpu, rest ram tried 1 stick at a time, CMOS reset and got nothing else from the fans coming on. Could this be a Motherboard issue or CPU, personally im thinking motherboard but wanted a second opnion..

I had this myself once, it was a video card that had died.

I suggest trying a video card, anyone that works and fits a slow will do.

Usually I only get beeps after display of devices screen then intermediately before windows logo.

Had a similar issue, it was the CPU at fault. If possible test with another.

I've also had a dead PSU exhibit the same symptoms.

Good luck

1. Is the video connected to the system board or a dedicated video card?

2. If it is connected to the System board, on the monitor do you get a no signal error or does it think there is a computer connected?

If it is connected to the system board and the monitor says No signal it IS the system board

3. If it is connected to the system board and the monitor has signal than check the PSU

4. If it is connected to a video card connect it to the system board and remove the Video card and try again.

As far as keyboard and mouse go. I am assuming USB, try different ports.

still nothing. Sounds like either the PSU or the System Board.

Check to see if the HSF is connected and the motherboard CPU socket for bent pins, if there are any, be very careful when trying to straighten them out.

I have removed all non essential hardware

Does that include the gfx card? I once had a PC which wouldn't POST until I removed the gfx card.

You said you get no beeps because there is no speaker, but does your board flash the power LED on your case in a sequence? (e.g. solid light, flash on/off three times, solid light, repeat... etc.).
