PlayStation 4 dominates Xbox One in January with 'nearly double' the US sales

I would suggest not discussing why people care about this stuff. Anyone that cares enough to look at threads about this can answer the question for themselves.

Why?  I want to know.

Why?  I want to know.

Becuase people dont feel like answering the question. They feel like asking is an attack on anyone that does post or care about such things.

So if you want an answer, how about this for possible reasons:

They care becuase they like to follow the 'numbers game'

They care becuase the numbers could affect the future of the platform(s) they like

They care becuase its used in other arguments regarding the platform(s) they like

They care becuase its just something to talk about.

You've already received answers.

Why do people care about OS sales? Phone sales? Tablet sales? Car sales? Electronics sales? If you're interested in the device or product you'd be interested in how well it is doing. It's not exactly the riddle of the Sphinx.

To be fair, I don't think you're in a position to answer on behalf of everyone, so I'm interested in why from more than just yourself.

I'm sure there are varying reasons, but compl3x is on the right track there. People tend to follow the company they like, when that company does well those numbers are a justification of their opinion and\or purchase. Not everyone is like that sure and others may have a different view, but for the vast majority that definitely rings true.

Also back on topic, I'm wondering if Titanfall will vastly improve the Xbox One's sales. Either way I hope this is a wake up call to Microsoft for being way too complacent.

I guess mine counts as a February sale given I got it on 4 February. But I'm quite happy with my PS4. I'm going back and forth playing GTA5 on my PS3 and AC4BF on my PS4. Couldn't be happier! :)
